Gram Vikas High school, Kankia is a model for formal education of both boys and girls from Class I to Class X. This is, especially, true for Scheduled Tribe and Scheduled Caste children though there are a few students here who belong to General Castes. Most of the students come from the backward communities in Ganjam, Gajapati and Kalahandi districts. The patience, devotion, and supportive environ

ment created by the teachers here for their wards are remarkable despite the many challenges the school faces. Gram Vikas High School has been established in 1982 with the vision of providing effective education at an affordable price to the masses. We aim at creating rational minds and empowering them with the skills required to earn their livelihood and live a dignified life. At Gram Vikas Residential School, we believe that a fun-filled, interactive and free environment can bring out the best in the student and can help her/ him to become an independent, self reliant and innovative individual rather than be a follower only. We work to make learning an unforgettable experience for the students by including activity based learning in our schools right from the primary level. Mr Parthasarathi Nayak ex teacher of Mahendra Tanaya Ashram school, Koinpur Gajapati passed away in a heartbreaking road accident on 26/03/2022.In his memory, his Mother Dr.Kabita Swain announced Parthasarathi Nayak memorial scholarship at Gram Vikas High school,Kankia .To inspire tribal girls' students education she announced, girls' tribal students, who will secure highest marks in HSC exam will get a token award Rs2000/-.She contributed Rs30000/-as capital amount, which ammount has fixed in bank.
She also provided books and Rs 500/- to our students who got 1st,2nd and 3rd position in HSC exam-2022-23.Dr.Swain has announced she will provide study materials to the Orphan students of GVHS for higher education.
