German regulations for travel on Lufthansa from India effective 7Jul 21
Indian nationals can now travel to Germany for tourism (C type visa) minimum 14 days after they are fully vaccinated (WHO approved vaccines allowed. Covishield accepted, Covaxin/Sputnik NOT accepted).
No RTPCR test required on departure from India if fully vaccinated.
On line Digital Entry Application is mandatory for entry into Germany.
Proof of hotel stay recommended.
Passengers in the following categories can also travel to Germany (providing purpose of travel and sufficient proof) even if they are not fully vaccinated but they must possess a Covid negative report on departure ex India. The sample given for proof of negative covid 19 test must not be older than 24 hrs in case of an Antigen test and not older than 72 hrs for RTPCR test from the planned arrival into Germany. They have to follow the quarantine regulations in Germany i.e. 10 days quarantine but a Covid test can be taken on 5th day after arrival and if negative then quarantine can end. Digital Entry Application is mandatory.
- Holder of official letter issued by a German mission confirming urgent travel needs
- Immediate family members of German nationals/residents
- Planned marriage to nationals residing in Germany
- Urgent family reason like birth, funeral, serious illness, wedding (applies to all relatives, core family & adult children, grandparents, parents of adult children, grandchildren, siblings)
- Unmarried couples/live-in registered partner living in Germany (proof of partnership – German National’s passport & purpose of travel, proof of previous meeting, proof of common residence abroad, signed declaration))
- Business travelers indicating purpose of travel with substantial proof – Skilled & highly qualified workers, IT professionals, Healthcare professionals, Scientists, Researchers, Transport personnel, Exhibitors, Trade fair visitors (with admission ticket + appointment proof), participants of a congress (invitation & proof of organizer that the congress will not take place online)
- Seamen
- Students / Advanced education
- Medical and ongoing treatment
- Sports persons/ officials for international sports events, competition, tournament
- Diplomats and their immediate family members
Transit via Germany is allowed to other Schengen and Non Schengen countries provided the entry/exit & Covid regulations of the destination country are fulfilled and passenger is holding an onward/return ticket
Switzerland too is open for fully vaccinated Indians for tourism (travel after 14 days of taking second vaccine of Covishield or other WHO approved vaccines permitted). Passengers can travel India-Frankfurt-Switzerland
With fully vaccinated adults, children under 18years of age can travel, however they need to quarantine for 10 days on arrival in Switzerland
