Silent Valley National Park
Silent beauty of #Nature - #Silent_Valley_National_Park, #Palakad
Silent Valley National Park or #Sairandhri #Forest, is a national park with a core zone of 236.74 square kilometres (91 sq mi) (making it the second largest national park in #Kerala), located in the Nilgiri Hills, within the Palakkad District of Kerala, #South_India. In 1874, British named the area Silent Valley because of a perceived absence of #noisy_cicadas. This absence alone makes a difference in the visitors.
Silent Valley shelters thousands of wild endangered species of flora and fauna. The mass presence of #lion_tailed_macaques and dense #rain_forest can be quoted as some of the peculiarities of Silent valley. The Lion-tailed Macaque, Niligiri Langur, Malabar Giant Squirrel,Nilgiri Tahr, Peshwa’s Bat (Myotis peshwa), Hairy-winged Bat, Tiger, leopard (panther), leopard cat, jungle cat, fishing cat, Common Palm Civet, Small Indian Civet, Brown Palm Civet, Ruddy Mongoose,Stripe-necked Mongoose, Dhole, clawless otter, sloth bear, small travancore flying squirrel, Indian pangolin (scaly anteater), porcupine, wildboar, sambar, spotted deer, barking deer, mouse deer and gaur are just a few of the inhabitants at the heart of this truly wild Valley. Precisely we could classify them as 315 wild animal kinds, 200 type of birds, 225 beetles, 25 types of frogs, 2000 plus plant varieties and 500 types of butterflies etc.
The view from Sairandhri watch tower brings the entire western ghats into a single frame. Unlike the other forests, silent valley welcomes it visitors to experience a real forest. Wild life sighting comes only secondary. New and new plant and animal species are discovered here every year. The valley beckons us to witness the marvelous exuberance of life that expresses itself in an incredible harmony of plants and animals, birds and insects.Silent valley is a magical blend of nature. Alappuzha - The backwater queen
#WELCOME TO THE #WATERLAND!
#Alappuzha, mostly called as #Alleppey - is the hub of Kerala's #backwaters, home to a vast network of waterways and more than a thousand houseboats. It is one among the best tourist attractions in #Kerala, the #GodsOwnCountry. These Backwaters are a network of interconnected #canals, #rivers, #lakes and inlets, a labyrinthine system formed by more than 900 km of #waterways, and sometimes compared to the #AmericanBayou.
The backwaters were formed by the action of waves and shore currents creating low barrier #islands across the mouths of the many rivers flowing down from the #WesternGhats range. In the midst of this landscape there are a number of towns and cities, which serve as the starting and end points of backwater cruises. Many unique species of aquatic life including crabs, frogs and mudskippers, water birds such as terns, kingfishers, darters and cormorants, and animals such as otters and turtles live in and alongside the backwaters. Palm trees, pandanus shrubs, various leafy plants and bushes grow alongside the backwaters, providing a green hue to the surrounding landscape.
The journey through these water ways will be really fascinating one. You cannot put your Cam down from the moment you land in this '#Venice of the East' . Its such a beauty that nature had created here. The line of coconut trees on both sides, chirping birds, small islands and the unbeatable tasty foods of Alleppey will surely lead you to a world of wonders. Come, experience it!
