Tadoba National Park and Sanctuary are some of the noted wildlife destinations popular for Tiger Safari in India.
The local tribal god "Taru," who, according to mythology, perished here while battling a tiger, gave the area its name, Tadoba National Park. The area jungle became known as "Tadoba" after the tribal elders built a shrine in his honor beneath a big tree on the shores of Lake Tadoba. As Tadoba has one of the highest tiger densities in India (recent estimates show that 64 tigers roam a rich jungle area spread over 625 square kilometers), the tiger is the main draw.
