Kamsa tried to kill Krishna many times. On one occasion, he sent a demon bull, Arishtasura to Vrindavan. Shri Krishna understood that this was no common wild bull, but an evil demon.
When the bull was defeated, the spirit left the bull and bowed in front of Shri Krishna. It was a former disciple of the Deva Guru Brihaspathi, by whom he had been cursed. The curse would only be lifted when Shri Krishna defeated him.

When Lord Krishna was born to Devaki and Vasudeva in the prison, there was a glorious burst of light and a rain of flowers from heaven. A Divine Voice commanded Vasudeva to go and exchange King Nanda and Queen Yashoda’s daughter for their son. All the prison gates opened and the guards were fast asleep.
