Believe it or not, Bogibeel river bridge is the longest rail cm road bridge in India, that can withstand earthquakes up to 9 on the Ritcher Scale. Few facts known or unknown about Bogibeel river bridge-

• Initial estimate was 1767 crore, however due to the total length of the bridge increased from 4.31 km to 4.94 km, the project total cost increase to 5960 crore.

• The bridge is designed to carry 2 nos. of broad gauge railway at a time with 3 lane roadway on the upper deck.

• Hindustan Construction Company, DSD Bruckenbaw GmbH, Germany and VNR Infrastructures are the 3 construction company who build up the super structure.

• The bridge is the Asia’s 2nd Largest railway cm road bridge with 120 years of serviceable period.

• Asia’s 1st largest rail cm road bridge was built in 1900 popularly known as Old Godavari Bridge or Havelock Bridge which is now decommissioned. Total length of the bridge was 4.1 km

Believe it or not, Majuli Island is the first river island declared as a district in India. Also known as Heritage River Island, also known as Vaishnavite's River Island. Few facts are known or unknown about the Majuli Island -

● Origin name: Presumed to be taken shape of the island before 13 century A.D., before Sukhapa arrived at Brahmaputra valley in the year 1228. Origin names found in records were "MAJALI" "MOJALI" and later in 1562 "LUITOR MAJULI" which is presently known as "MAJULI ISLAND"

● Satras: A religious and holy place to worship. Until today, the old culture of Initiation (Dikha) took place Here, monks who take the vow have to lead his life with very basic requirements and have to put themselves to the Lord.

● Mask: An ancient art form representing the expression of the mythical heroes/demons of Srimad Bhagwat (holy book) helps provide a physical form to the puranic characters. There are 3 traditional masks to represent:
1. Mukha: for represent face mask
2. Latakia Mukha: for represent movable of lips, eyes, hands.
3. Bor Mukha: for represent to encrypt into a larger size

● Birds: As a Vaishnavite culture, killing as always prohibited, results in the diversity of migratory birds gone higher and today more than 260 species have been recorded so far.

■ Threatened Species: Spot-billed Pelican Pelecanus Philippines, Slender-billed Vulture Gyps tenuirostris, White-backed Vulture G. bengalensis, Greater Adjutant-Stork Leptoptilos dudius and Lesser Adjutant-Stork L. javanicus

Belief it or not- Mount Kangchenjunga is the world’s 3rd highest peak which is 28,169 feet (8586 m) which is 262 m short then Mount Everest, however only a few in count has reached the summit. Few facts known or unknown about Mount Kangchenjunga-

 ● Known to be highest mountain of the world till 1852, when Great Trigonometrical Society researched and came to a conclusion that Mount Everest, known as Peak XV was the highest, so in 1856 it was officially announced that Kangchenjunga is the 3rd highest mountain in the world.

 ● As promised to Chogyal dynasty that the top of the mountain will remain intact, as the Sikkimese viewed the peak, as both a God & the Abode of God so when in 1955, 25th of May Kangchenjunga was first climbed to the summit by Joe Brown & George Band of British Kangchenjunga expedition group, they stopped 5m before the summit and till today every climber has followed the tradition.

 ● Local beliefs that Kangchenjunga to be a home of a bipedal creature named “Dzo-Nga”, and in the year1925 the British Geological expedition seen the bipedal creature which locals call also – “Kangchenjunga Demon”.

 ● First women to complete the summit was Ginette Harrison who has climbed the peak on May 18 1998

Legendary actor, director, producer Md. Yusuf Khan known to be Dilip Kumar born at Peshwar, British India region. Few facts known or unknown about Sri Dilip Kumar-

● He holds Guinness World Record for winning the maximum number of awards by an Indian actor

● For the period of 1979 to 1982 Late Sri Dilip Kumar appointed as the Sheriff of Bombay by the Government of Maharashtra

● Awarded 3rd highest civilian award in 1991 by Padma Bhushan

● Awarded Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1994

● In 1997 Government of Andhra Pradesh honoured Sri Dilip Kumar with NTR National Award

● In 1998 Government of Pakistan honoured Late Sri Dilip Kumar with highest civilian award Nisham-e-Imtiaz

● Late Sri Dilip Kumar holds the record to have won 8 Filmfare Best Actor Award

● Awarded 2nd highest civilian award in 2015 by Padma Vibhushan

Belief it or not a hill situated at Goalpara named - Sri Surya Pahar (Hill), was once the land of Pragjyotisha Kingdom. Few facts known or unknown about Sri Surya Pahar-

● Surya - the Sun, the name derives to be slab in a carved stone which is similar or matching to Surya- the Sun

● It occupies 3 religions together with its innumerable scriptures and antiques of Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism

● It is believe to have 99,999 shivalingas, which engraved by Ved Vyasa to create or build 2nd Kashi- which has 1,00,000 shivalingas

● As per Chinese traveler Mr. Huen Tsang, claim that Sri Surya Pahar once land of Pragjyotisha Kingdom, ruled by Kumar Bhaskara Varman during the 6th Century

Belief it or not but Tawang Monastery is the largest monastery in India & it is world's 2nd largest after the Potala Palace in Lhasa, Tibet. Few facts known or unknown about the monastery-

● The monastery is known in Tibetian- Galden Namgey Lhatse, which describes as- celestial paradise in a clear night. In later days of 1681 it was founded by Mera Lama Lodre Gyasto.

● Tawang Galdan Namgye Lhatse (Original Monastery name) full meaning is TA- horse, WANG- chosen, GALDAN- paradise, NAMGYE- celestial and LHATSE- divine. So "site chosen by the horse is the celestial divine paradise"

● Monastery has there own religious book printing press, the technique is by wooden blocks. This books used by Monpa Lamas for conducting religious rituals.

● Tawang region was under Tibet until 1914 & under Simla Agreement of 1913-14 this entire region include the monastery came under British control & due to this dispute the 1962 Indo China war occured. China invade India on 20 October 1962 & conquered Tawang and the monastery for 6 months but did not desecrate it.
