TIGERS RELOCATION IN MAHARASHTRA

Inspired from tigers relocation in Madhya Pradesh state and recent Cheetah inter-continental relocation, now Maharashtra forest department is heading for tigers relocation within state. They have planned to relocated Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve tigers to Nagzira Navegaon Tiger Reserve. This will be a short distance relocation thus chances of success are high due to similar climatic conditions. Only concern is security to them as man-animal conflicts and poaching are high in this region. At present Nagzira forest is a very good leopard and sloth bear sighting destination. Here birding is also very good. From tourism point of view, development of Nagzira forest will beneficial for 3 popular tiger reserves surrounding to this forest, in terms of load sharing and close connectivity. Nagzira - Navegaon have Pench tiger reserve in north-west, Kanha tiger reserve in north-east and Tadoba Andhari tiger reserve in southwards. Good planning will give good result. Notification came for opening of core zone permits booking from 29-Aug-2022. Core zones will open from 01-Oct-2022. Those you are planning to visit in October-November-December months, should finalize their plan and get ready to book there desired safari zones permit in advance, as limited permits are issued and they mostly get sold out in advance.
