Minister Marc Miller announced new programs for rural and Francophone communities. These are the Rural Community Immigration Pilot and the Francophone Community Immigration Pilot. They’re part of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada’s efforts to establish a permanent immigration program for rural areas.
Rural Community Immigration Pilot: Coming in fall 2024, this program helps rural areas get the workers they need by offering permanent residency to newcomers who can fill important job gaps.
Francophone Community Immigration Pilot: Also starting in fall 2024, this program encourages French-speaking immigrants to settle in Francophone communities outside Quebec. It supports these communities economically and aims to increase their population.
In addition, more French communities will be encouraged to participate in the new modified Rural Northern Immigration Pilot (RNIP).
This is good news for those studying and working in rural communities such as;
1️⃣ North Bay, Ontario
2️⃣ Sudbury, Ontario
3️⃣ Timmins, Ontario
4️⃣ Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
5️⃣ Thunder Bay, Ontario
6️⃣ Brandon, Manitoba
7️⃣ Altona, Manitoba
8️⃣ Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan
9️⃣ Claresholm, Alberta
🔟Vernon, British Columbia
Also, more smaller communities will be added to the above list by Fall 2024.
