Faces of Kargil❤️❤️
Imagine a small place with a mere population of hardly 1.5 lacs but the varieties of culture, dress, dialects, languages and many more in this small place.
Festivals like Apricot Blossom (Chuli Mendoq), Mamani, Losar , archery festivals saw a huge cultural dress adorned by locals.
This is what Kargil is.❤️❤️

#5 The Gorgeous Nun Kun Massif.
The Nun Kun mountain massif consists of a pair of Himalayan peaks: Nun, 7,135 m (23,409 ft) and Kun Peak, 7,077 m (23,218 ft).[3] separated from it by a snowy plateau of 4 km in length lies a third peak of the massif known as Pinnacle Peak 22,740 ft (6,930 metres).[4] Nun is the tallest peak of Jammu and Kashmir of the Himalayan range lying on the Indian side of the Line of Control, with its sister peak Kun lying in Ladakh. It is about 250 km (160 mi) east of Srinagar. The Nun Kun massif is bounded to the north by the Suru valley and the Zanskar range. To the east, it is flanked by the Suru valley and the Pensila(4400m), which separates Suru from the Zanskar Valley.

The Famous Maitriye Buddha Chamba of Kartse Khar.
There are three Maitreya Buddha statues that have been carved out of rock in the Kargil district. They are, Mulbekh Chamba which is the tallest, Khartse Khar Buddha in Kargil, Ladakh, and the Khartse Khar Buddha in Kargil, Ladakh. An interesting fact about these three Maitreya Buddha statues in Kargil is that if you plot them on a map, they form an equilateral triangle.

The three Maitreya Buddha statues lie approximately equidistant from each other. These three may be the tallest standing statues of Buddha in the world that have been sculpted in rock. There is a possibility that there may be more, waiting to be discovered.

Bismillah ❤️
The beautiful Trespone Valley/Village.
Originally called as Lhunchey. Derived its name from Lhang-fo-chey (Local name for Elephant).
This Village being vast, populous and a trade and art center in Karchey region of Kargil got its name Lhang-fo-chey (Elephant).
As per local lore, the name Trespone is a distorted name for Tree Spoon. It is loosely said that once a non-local officer visits the village and he is served food in a wooden Bowl and Spoon. He said, Tree Spoon by holding the wooden spoon. Thus the name Trespone.
😁😁😁 🌴 🥄
It is one of the most beautiful, scenic and sought after places in Kargil. Also called as mini Kashmir.
