Have you visited Munnar in India? Munnar is a town in the Western Ghats mountain range in India’s Kerala state. A hill station and former resort for the British Raj elite, it's surrounded by rolling hills dotted with tea plantations established in the late 19th century.

Ashraf Chalil is currently on one of his road trips for Heygo and having left Kochi this morning, he’s now heading to Munnar where in less than four hours he will be doing the first tour of several in this beautiful district. Check out these tours, the cardamom plantation is a new one, they are all different times and there are some short last minute tours as he continues his journey in the next few days.

Sambar is a vegetarian curry prepared in special South Indian method of cooking . In this tour we will learn how to prepare this delicious dish.

Following are the ingredients for your shopping list if you plan to cook-a-long or prepare afterwards:

Toor dal -- 1/2 cup
Potato -- 1
Plantain banana -- 1
Carrot -- 1
Cucumber -- some pieces
Beans -- 2
Onion -- 1
Green chilli -- 2
Turmeric powder -- 1/2 teaspoon
Salt -- as needed
Drumstick -- 1
Ladies finger -- 3
Brinjal -- 1
Tomato -- 1
Sambar powder -- 2 teaspoon
Tamarind -- in size of a lemon
Water -- 1 cup (for soaking Tamarind for 15 minutes)
Coconut oil -- 4 tablespoon
Grated coconut -- 3/4 cup
Shallots -- 12
Garlic -- 5
Curry leaves
Fenugreek seeds -- 6(do not exceed)
Cumin -- 1 teaspoon
Red chilli -- 4
Asafoetida -- in small amounts
Coriander powder -- 3 teaspoon
Chilli powder -- 1 teaspoon
Mustard seeds -- 2 teaspoon
Coriander leaves
Water -- as needed
