Full circuit zanskar trip with phuktal monestery. Have been traveling and organising tour to zanskar since 2019, it's for the first time a group had dared to walking to phuktal monestery. Phuktal monastery normally requires 5-6hrs walk from purne and most of the tourist visiting zanskar would give up walking upto some point. We took 5hrs for updown journey and then head to gonbo rangjon.

Autumn's embrace in Ladakh and Suru Valley was a breathtaking spectacle, made all the more special by the presence of our vibrant Vietnamese group, who journeyed with us from Srinagar. Their itinerary was elegantly simple: a soul-stirring voyage from Srinagar to Kargil, where they would delight in the magic of the places nestled along the highway, such as the poignant War Memorial, the enchanting Zojila pass, and the picturesque Sonmarg.
Through unforeseen circumstances, I found myself in Kargil to greet our delightful guests upon their arrival. Yet, to my surprise, they had already reached the destination by the by the stroke of noon. I assured them that their experience would take a turn for the better and proposed an impromptu expedition to the captivating Suru Valley, a gem that regrettably was not part of their original package.
By 2 pm sharp, we set off to explore the wonders of Suru Valley, aware that our journey might present some obstacles, including traffic congestion and ongoing road maintenance leading to occasional detours during the black-topping process. However, undeterred, we pressed on, making several delightful halts along the way for photos and to soak in the valley's incomparable beauty, eventually reaching Karchey-Khar.
With the sun painting the landscape in rich, golden hues, we embarked on our return journey to Kargil, ensuring we arrived back by 6:30 pm, just as promised. The day had been an extraordinary adventure, a testament to the resilience of our spirits and the unyielding allure of Suru Valley.
In the arms of autumn, Ladakh and Suru Valley had revealed their most magnificent self, and in the company of our Vietnamese friends, the experience became an unforgettable chapter etched in the hearts of all who shared in its wonder.

Never found snow clearance activity being carried at this pace.

From sonamarg side men and machinery reached Captain Mordd, heading towards Gumri and crossed shaitaan nallah from drass side. If weather remains favourable road expected to open by end of this month.

SPRING LADAKH - HOW, WHEN AND WHAT TO EXPLORE, WITNESS AND REJOICE!!!!!

Spring from April 1st week to last week is the time during which apricots flowers starts blossoming in parts of ladakh like that of sham Valley, turtuk and others. Those wishing to have to glimpse those beautiful time can consider visiting ladakh anytime between first week of April to April ending.

ITINERARY [LEH TO LEH]

/DAY 1-ARRIVAL AT LEH AIRPORT AND EVENING VISIT TO SHANTI STUPA, LEH PALACE AND MARKET

/DAY2-LEH TO SASPOL/ULEYTOKPO

Today we will be driving downwards upto 60-70km towards sham Valley on srinagar-leh highway on the bank of indus river immensely rich in apricots and apple trees and its blossoming flowers during spring is a treat to eyes. Hall of fame, magnetic Hill, pathar sahib gurudwara and confluence of indus and zanskar River at sangam lies enroute and can consider halting there for a while. Overnight either at saspol /alchi/Uleytokpo.

/DAY 3-ARYAN VALLEY EXPLORATION

Post breakfast we will leave towards dha-hanu the place with most number of apricot trees. Enroute dha-hanu along batalik Sector lies other villages of ladakh rich in apricots trees like that of takmachik, domkhar, sanjak and others. Overnight at dha-hanu.

/DAY 4-BACK TO LEH ALONG SAME ROUTE

DAY5-LEH to turtuk

We will now then head towards turtuk a apricot rich place in nubra valley via khardungla. Overnight at turtuk.

DAY6-BACK TO LEH BY LATE EVENING

DAY7-DEPARTURE

*In view of frost and slippery conditions of the road*, tomorrow subject to fair weather and road clearance, *only one way traffic from Srinagar towards Kargil* shall be allowed on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road. These vehicles shall be allowed *from Sonamarg at 0900 hrs*. *LMVs followed by HMVs upto 1100 hrs*.
No Vehicle shall be allowed before and after cut off timings.

Subject to fair weather and good road condition, only one way traffic from *Kargil towards Zanskar shall be allowed upto 1100hrs from TCP Panikhar thereafter*
No any vehicle shall be allowed from TCP Panikhar.

LATEST UPDATE ON CHANGLA!

Crossed Changla around 2:30 pm this afternoon and it was all good. Only a few hundreds metre before top on the durbuk side was covered with shiny snow.

Major points prone to skid and slip being laced with soil has started melting away making it ease for drive and there shouldn't be a concern crossing it between 10am-4pm under sun.

Melts from roads and sideways will turn into black ice in the morning and evening without sun and driving during that time can be very dangerous. So try crossing it under sun when those melts didn't freeze.

It continues restricted for 2-wheelers but had meet 3-4 riders at durbuk last night getting there around 7pm and didn't seemed comfortable getting there crossing Changla as they had multiple falls crossing it. Even today had encountered 2 bikes heading towards pangong crossing Changla. There is police vehicle stationed at Sakti not allowing any 2-wheelers towards pangong.

COVERING DISKIT-HUNDER-TURTUK - PANGONG IN 3 DAYS-

General and usual way covering Diskit-hunder-turtuk-thang and pangong in 3 days is to cover part of nubra valley upto thang in first 2 days and than start for pangong on 3rd day very early in the morning from hunder via SHAYOK and return back to leh via Changla by late evening.

Since it has already started freezing here and starting early in the morning has already become challenging owing to unavailability of running water in the bathroom as pipes has already started freezing and its also bit risky to travel along passes before sun gets warmer as road remains to be slippery in the morning and evening without sun.

My client also had the same plan of starting to pangong from hunder on 3rd day and return back to leh same day via Changla but I made them realise and aware them of all these challenges a part of which they had already experienced and realised.

So, after visiting Diskit monastery and sand dunes at hunder and while going to hotel I propose this itinerary of staying at some places beyond hunder and before pangong after covering turtuk-thang next day. They said okay.

Next day we started for turtuk around 9 and reach thang by 11. Then we return back to explore turtuk village and started for pangong from turtuk around 1pm. Reach hunder by 2:40 pm and after having lunch we again started for pangong around 3:15.

I wanted them to stay at agham but they wanted network so had to pull upto durbuk and reach there by 6:30 pm while also catching sunset kissing clear blue shyok River and its surroundings peaks. Rooms are readily available in durbuk and now getting ready to start for pangong. Will leave durbuk to pangong in a while and try getting back to leh by 1:30pm as we also don't wanna mis ind-pak match.

Day1-leh to nubra valley via khardungla. Visit Diskit monastery and explore sand dunes at hunder in the evening. Overnight at hunder.

Day2-hunder to turtuk-thang and back to start towards durbuk. Overnight at durbuk

Day3-durbuk to pangong and return back to leh.

It was snowing heavily around khardungla on 29th September and we stuck there for more than 2 hour. Since its very normal for khardungla and other higher passes to receive snowfall but prevention is always better than cure and I would recommend everyone planning to visit ladakh around this time to get timely information before heading to those higher reaches. Also make sure than your cab is equipped with functional snow chain and his tyres are in good condition. Oxygen cylinder is must as heavy snowfall may cause one to stuck in a traffic jam there around top of the pass and chances of getting hit by AMS and related illness gets much higher.
