Very talented, from Takmachik. One of the few wood carving experts in our village.

Wood carving has been an integral part of the Ladakhi culture. Choktse (Traditional table) and the woodwork within the interiors of the monasteries is the best example of the Ladakhi tradition of carving wood.

On 18th july, 2020.
The students of Takmachik village did a one day cleaning campaign. Starting with cleaning the scattered garbage around the village, we moved to clean the stream of the village.

An initiative and a promise to always be environmentally conscious, responsible and conserve the planet.

A visit to Haritse: an abandoned village in Ladakh, India. 110KMs frome Leh.

Haritse used to be a lively village with cattle, fields and orchards. With urbanisation people of Ladakh too started shifting to cities and towns leaving behind these beautiful villages uncultivated, barren and devastated. A live example is the village of Haritse which has been abandoned for at least 15 years now.

LIVE aims to revive such abandoned villages in Ladakh. To support or to know more drop us a message.

Ice Stupa is a form of glacier grafting technique that creates artificial glaciers, used for storing winter water (which otherwise would go unused) in the form of conical shaped ice heaps. During summer, when water is scarce, the Ice Stupa melts to increase water supply for crops.
