The U.T Kangri Mountain Peak (6070 mtr) is the newly scaled prominent snow-capped peak as you trek on the Rumtse Phu trail. This peak was accessible for tourists from 2019 after successful scaling by certified guides of (LMGA)Ladakh Mountain Guide Association.
‘Phu’ generally means pastureland in Ladakhi. The Rumtse Phu is the main pasture land for nomads residing around the villages of Gya-Meru. The Rumtse Phu lies at a height of around 4750m above sea level. The highest sleeping altitude is at base camp which is 5300m above sea level.
