Stone houses like this are a typical architectural style in the Zanskar and Ladakh regions. Flat stones are lined one above the other, “cemented” and painted with a mixture of mud, straw and animal dung.
It really traps the heat inside.. the houses are damn warm and comfortable ✨

Ladakhi shoes or pabu were traditionally made for home use only and are made of woven yak hair and wool to keep the feet warm in the winter.
The insole of the pabu is made of jute whereas the outsole is made using the skin of a yak or buffalo. One of the peculiar features of pabu is its pointed turned up toe.

The first one was worn by the women of Ladakh & Zanskar, whereas the second picture was worn by both women & men.
