After navigating the twists and turns of South India's diverse terrain, we had a well-deserved pause in Kerala. Amidst the lush landscapes, we savoured some unique culinary offerings, from fresh seafood to local delicacies like toddy. And as the day almost came to a close, we embarked on a tranquil sunset cruise along Kerala's renowned backwaters.
Now recharged, we're geared up to forge ahead and embrace new adventures on our journey.

The next two days of our Grand South India Motorcycle Tour got us into the lush embrace of God’s Own Country – Kerala! From the picturesque Anamalai hills, our journey from Valparai meandered through quaint villages en route to the heart of the Amaravati Reserve Forest. Crossing into Kerala, our ascent to Munnar unfolded, winding through tea plantations and mist-kissed landscapes. After a refreshing overnight stay in Rajakkad, we descended the western ghats, and immersed ourselves in the vibrant life of Kerala’s towns. Our ride along the backwaters showcased unique scenes of local life, leading us to the serene shores of Kumarakom. Stay tuned to see us glide through the verdant beauty of Kerala’s backwaters!

Day 3 of our Grand South India motorcycle tour unfolded in the charming hills of Ooty and Coonoor. We started the day with a leisurely exploration of Ooty's natural beauty, and then set our sights on Coonoor, another hill station at the lower level of the Niligiris. This took us past the famous toy train station with its quaint small trains, and up to a panoramic viewpoint offered breathtaking views. After building quite an appetite, our riders enjoyed a relaxed lunch at a restaurant serving delicious colonial cuisine. After riding back late afternoon, we wrapped up the day getting to know each other better with some delightful conversations about our life experiences. Ooty, you’ve been enchanting!

We bid adieu to the Garden City after a hearty breakfast, cruising along scenic routes towards the city of Mysore. The roads led us through charming villages, painting a vivid picture of Karnataka's rustic beauty.
As the wheels rolled on, our adventure took an exciting turn into the national reserve forest of Bandipur. With a bit of luck, we shared the road with some wild companions, making the forest roads come alive with untamed magic. Crossing over to Tamil Nadu through the forest check post, our journey continued, and the excitement soared.
Next up, a thrilling ascent towards the Nilgiris and the enchanting Udhagamandalam – Ooty, the Queen of the Hills. The air turned crisp, and the vistas unfolded, welcoming us to the favourite hill station of the south. The night was spent getting to know each other under the starry sky and in the warm embrace of a campfire.

Day 1 at our ADV Motorcycle Training in Panchgani with the incredible @adib.javanmardi was an absolute game-changer! The training kicked off with an intensive dive into understanding our bikes – air pressure, chain tension, brakes, and more. From tackling punctures to mastering dirt riding techniques, we delved into it all. Adib's insights into common off-road mistakes and body positioning were pure gold.
Throttle, brake, and clutch techniques, weight-shifting, and conquering obstacles – every twist and turn revealed a new facet of adventure riding. Our riders even got the opportunity to put our newfound skills to the test. Ready for more adrenaline-packed sessions ahead!

From the vibrant streets of Chiang Mai to conquering the legendary loops of Mae Hong Son, every twist, turn, and triumph etched a story on the roads of Thailand. Day after day, we chased sunrises over lakes, danced in the rain on mountain roads, and marvelled at the artistry of ancient temples. We dined on the unexpected—be it authentic Thai delights or Malaysian flavours that sparked our taste buds. The thrill of ascending Doi Inthanon, conquering one of the Top 10 motorcycle routes in the world, and dipping into hot springs after days in the saddle — we wrote tales of adrenaline, camaraderie, and breathtaking beauty. Each day unfolded like a chapter, and as the sun set over the Phayao Lake on our final day, we couldn't help but reminisce on the friendships forged, the landscapes conquered, and the pure joy of the ride.

Waking up to a breathtaking sunrise over Phayao Lake, the group embraced the magic of the moment. A vibrant Saturday morning market encircling the lake treated us to delectable breakfast delights and allowed us to immerse in the local charm. Setting out on our roundabout route to Chiang Mai at 9:30 am, our first stop unveiled a mountain-top panorama of the lake, a visual feast to kick off the day.
The journey continued on spectacular roads, flanked by mountains on either side, each curve a testament to the wonders of our final ride. The famed Hot Springs awaited, offering a therapeutic dip in temperature-controlled spring water, a rejuvenating interlude for weary riders after seven days of adventure. With spirits lifted, a lovely lunch set the stage for the last leg of our journey, after which we weaved through two fantastic national parks en route to Chiang Mai.
Handing over our trusted companions, the bikes, marked a bittersweet moment. Yet, the day had one more surprise—exploring a Malaysian culinary adventure at our farewell dinner, a delicious departure from the traditional Thai fare. As the night embraced us, riders came together, sharing laughter and stories, savouring the camaraderie forged on this incredible journey. All in all, it was a grand finale to our epic Thailand adventure.

Day 5 in Thailand unfolded like a captivating odyssey, awakening with misty enchantment in Fang. Our first pause— a hilltop temple revealing sweeping views of the lush forest and town below, refreshing our senses. Next on our adventure, Wat Tham Pla, a monkey temple where bananas became offerings, bringing us closer to our primate companions. 🐒 The highlight of the day though awaited us at the Golden Triangle, where Thailand, Myanmar, and Laos converged along the Mekong River. A short boat ride transported us to Laos, where we wandered through the market in the free zone learning more about the country and its culture. Before bidding farewell to the Golden Triangle we made a quick stop at the Hall of Opium Museum. With a lot of new information buzzing in our heads and the sun at its peak, we settled down for a delicious lunch near the river. There was still a lot more in store for us as we ventured to a Karen tribe village, encountering the famed Long-Neck women as they went about their day. As the sun dipped, Chiang Kong beckoned a riverside resort offering a perfect retreat. Riders cooled off in the pool, laughter echoed, and a Thai-Japanese feast marked the splendid end to a day brimming with experiences.

Day 4 of our Bhutan tour was dedicated to the iconic trek to the Tiger's Nest monastery in Paro. The day started early, and fuelled by a hearty breakfast, our group set off. The climb was both challenging and rewarding, a 3.5-hour uphill hike that unfolded panoramas of awe-inspiring beauty. Nestled on the cliffs of the Paro Valley, Taktsang, as it is locally known, stands as a testament to Bhutan's rich cultural heritage. Spending 1.5 hours within the monastery, our riders delved into its history and the profound beliefs that envelop this sacred site, and took in the amazing views from this elevated perch.
The group collectively celebrated the shared accomplishment of ascending and descending safely with a well-deserved lunch at the midpoint of the descent. Fatigued but filled with the glow of achievement, we returned to the hotel, cherishing the exhaustion that comes with the joy of conquering the Tiger's Nest.

Departing Mae Sariang, we embarked on the legendary route to Mae Hong Son (MHS) —a rider's paradise adorned with challenging loops and switchbacks, weaving tales close to the Burmese border. The MHS loop, a rite of passage for motorcycling enthusiasts in Thailand, became our conquest. But our ride wasn't over yet. After a delightful Burmese lunch, we carved through twisty roads, conquering thousands of turns en route to our tranquil haven in the backpacker’s paradise—Pai. Our riders showcased their amazing motorcycling skills, earning certificates tallying the loops conquered. The day crescendoed at Pai's Walking Market, where vibrant stalls and live performances lit up the night. And, with a celebratory dinner, we toasted to the triumphs of the day's adventure.

Day 2 of our Thailand Motorcycle Tour was a symphony of flavours, landscapes, and winding roads! Starting with a hearty breakfast, we set our compass for Doi Inthanon, Thailand's crown jewel at 2,565m. The national park treated us to breathtaking vistas on our ascent, a visual feast for every rider's soul. After spending some time at the summit, we descended to Wachirathan waterfall, pausing for nature's serenity. A delightful lunch rejuvenated us for the winding roads to Mae Sariang, near the Myanmar border. In this charming town, we discovered a hidden gem— an authentic Thai restaurant run by two elderly sisters. They crafted an unforgettable meal for our riders, the best some of us have ever tasted. We wrapped the day with broad smiles, full bellies, and undeniable camaraderie.

We've officially kicked off 2023's second motorcycle tour of Bhutan, the land of dragons and happiness. After riding along the Teesta River and over the Coronation Bridge, we secured our permits - and marked our entry into the country. Phuentsholing has welcomed us with peace and tranquility - something our riders need as they gear up for the adventures that lie ahead.

Touching down in Chiang Mai, we're immediately captivated by the city's charm and laid-back vibes. The city welcomed us with cold showers and cooler temperatures. After settling in, we bonded with our fellow riders and our seasoned lead captain and co-captain over a leisurely lunch. Day 2 unfolded with the roar of engines and the promise of adventure. Today, we embrace the winding mountain roads, carving through lush pine forests, en route to the majestic Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest peak at 2,565m above sea level.

Our remarkable South Africa motorcycle tour came to a close with an action-packed last day. We started with the breathtaking views of Hartbeespoort Dam, followed by a cable car ride to the heights of Magaliesberg Mountain – a true highlight.
Our final stop was Lesedi Cultural Village, where history came alive, and we immersed ourselves in the vibrant tapestry of African heritage. Some riders even took to the drums and learned from the locals. The rest of the afternoon was filled with captivating dances and delectable cuisine, truly an epic end to our adventure.
As the sun began to set, we made our way back to Pretoria, where it all began. There, we bid farewell to our trusty motorcycles, sharing stories over a delightful dinner.
While this tour may be over, our spirits are higher than ever, and we're already looking forward to riding together again in the future.

Our journey from Wakkerstroom to Clarens was nothing short of an epic tale. As we set off, the gentle morning mist parted to the warm embrace of the sun. The day began with a ride through Laing's Nek pass, leading us through the majestic Drakensberg mountain range, where the monumental presence of Majuba Mountain accompanied us on this leg of our adventure.
Our route then led us to the bustling N3 highway, a vital South African lifeline connecting the cities of Johannesburg and Durban. Amidst this urban artery, we found yet another breathtaking mountain pass that guided us through the pristine countryside. Our motorcycles gracefully weaved through the snaky roads, each twist and turn revealing a new facet of nature's beauty. 🏔️
Lunch was a welcome respite, refuelling our spirits and machines. Afterward, we ventured towards the ethereal Golden Gate National Park, arriving just as the sun painted the mountain faces with its golden-red hues.
Our final destination for the day was the picturesque town of Clarens. Nestled amidst artistic landscapes, Clarens greeted us with its charming breweries, delectable restaurants, and captivating shops. As our riders explored the town's treasures, they were treated to breathtaking vistas in every direction. The perfect end to another unforgettable day on the road. 🏡

On Day 5, our journey from Hazyview to Wakkerstroom via Mbombela unfolded like a living postcard of South African wonders. We started off this leg of our adventure by conquering the Nelspruit pass, a thrilling ascent that unveiled breathtaking vistas at every turn. A quick coffee break, then onwards we ventured, passing Badplass, renowned for its soothing hot springs.
The ride through the mountainous terrain of Chrissiesmeer was like a page torn from a classic novel, complete with a lunch under the shade of an ancient oak tree at The Billiard Room. This historic space, once a British military clubhouse, whispered stories of times gone by.
In the afternoon, the road led us into the wetlands, a birder's paradise brimming with avian treasures. At last, we reached our final destination for the day – Wetlands Game Lodge, in Wakkerstroom. Some of our riders embarked on a thrilling game drive, encountering springbok and other remarkable creatures, while our trusty tour captains led others on an exhilarating off-roading escapade.
As the day drew to a close, spirits soared, knowing that tomorrow's adventures promise even more unforgettable moments.
