Engaging with the Mumbai travel industry is consistently rewarding, especially when organized by the TAFI Western India chapter. Global Destinations had a notable presence at the 2024 TAFI stakeholders' showcase, highlighting a range of diverse products. From various DMCs represented to the serene Kavya Resort and Spa in Nepal, and from Tourism Fiji to Chalo DMC, the GD team engaged in meaningful conversations throughout the event.

Hola Amigos!

DMC Trip to Mexico recently organized a hi-tea event for select trade partners in Mumbai. Mr. Ramon Delgado (Director) and Ms. Ksenia Tarasavo (Vice Director) presented the diverse attractions in Mexico, conceptualizing multiple itineraries and options to group them with nearby destinations like Cuba, Guatemala, etc.

The workshop was concluded by Mr. Jon Danks, CEO of ATTA (The African Travel and Tourism Association), introducing the benefits of membership with the association and aiming to increase the involvement of the Indian travel trade.

We thank everyone present for making the session a huge success.

Last week team GD was engaged in business meetings for Global Destinations’ represented clients at the 2024 edition of OTM. With participation from Tourism Fiji and multiple DMCs and hospitality brands, the Global Destinations booth was bustling with visitors from across India.

Below is a sneak-peak into the actioned packed 3 days of business meetings and client engagements:
• Kavya Resort & Spa nestled in the lap of the Himalayas participated in OTM 2024 for the very first time
• DMCs like Private Safaris East Africa (Kenya), Threeland Travel Indochina (Vietnam), Trip to Mexico - Touroperator & DMC in Mexico (Mexico), Go City Go 旅城 , and Tangerine Tours (Sri Lanka) saw an increase in inquiries and trade interactions, which was a testimony to the growing demand for these destinations
• Chalo DMCDMC saw client participation from Kazakhstan, Georgia, and South Africa.
• ATTA - African Travel & Tourism Association participated in OTM 2024 for the 1st time to increase their membership within the Indian travel fraternity
• The delegation attending OTM was busy with media interactions and thought-provoking conversations with the trade
• Mr. Rob Thompson, Executive Director of Regions, Tourism Fiji was one of the panelists speaking on sustainable tourism practices
• Tourism Fiji was awarded with the Best Design & Decoration Booth at OTM 2024
Analysts predict that collective spending on outbound trips will surpass $42 billion by the end of 2024, solidifying India's position as one of the most lucrative outbound tourism markets globally. Participation in OTM 2024, helped our partners provide a platform to develop and strengthen their foothold in the Indian market.

A big shout out to the organizers, Fairfest Media, who have raised the bar in organizing OTM and bringing the entire travel fraternity under one roof. From change in venue to the to filtering the crowd attending the exhibition to curating panel topics that are relevant to the current travel scenario, the event was a huge success.

The Tourism Fiji India team had the privilege to meet with the Fijian delegation comprising of
- Hon. Mr. Viliame Gavoka, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism

- Mr. Shyam Shroff, Honorary Consul General, Mumbai, Republic of Fiji

- Mr. Elia Sevutia, Second Secretary, High Commission of the Republic of Fiji

- Mr. Tomasi Volau, Senior Aviation Officer, Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Fiji

In addition, the delegation met up with key decision-makers in the Indian trade and potential investors from the hotel, pharmaceutical, and entertainment industry.

Discussions revolved around strategies to increase tourism from India to Fiji, encouraging private stakeholders partnerships and adoption of new technologies in tourism, mutually beneficial to both countries.

Given the importance of the Indian outbound market to Fiji, and India being one of the priority markets, all in all a positive start in 2024.

!! HAPPY JANMASHTAMI !!

The festival holds immense cultural and spiritual significance across India and among Hindus worldwide. The day begins with devotees observing fasts and visiting temples, where they chant mantras dedicated to Lord Krishna. In the evening, Devotees gather to witness reenactments of Krishna's early life where young men form human pyramids to break pots filled with curd, a favorite of the mischievous Lord. This is known as 'Dahi Handi' or 'Govinda'.

Krishna Janmashtami reminds us of the divine teachings of Lord Krishna, emphasizing the importance of righteousness, devotion, and selfless action.

Our team representing participated in a three city roadshow held by Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority in India covering major market segments including Mumbai, Chennai and Ahmedabad.

This roadshow provided a platform for local stakeholders to engage with the Indian travel trade and amplified Mauritius' presence in the Indian market, across various segments including couples, families, MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), and weddings.

With increased connectivity between the two countries, this roadshow played an important role for the stakeholders to meet, bond and conduct business with the Indian travel trade!!
