This week, Maharashtra’s Pench Tiger Reserve was certified as a Dark Sky Park. The park is all set to welcome a host of infrastructure and activities for stargazers, as per news reports. But what does it really mean for a place to be deemed as a site of night sky preservation? The title comes from an independent non-profit organisation called DarkSky, and it is awarded based on a site or community’s potential as well as efforts in maintaining a pollution-free night sky.

T85, one of the large male tiger at Pench staring at us from just about a distance of 3-4 meters.

We were searching for Tiger throughout the safari which was to end at 6 pm. This huge cat showed up at at 5.45 pm and there was a mad chase which ended up with the tiger sitting exactly opposite to our vehicle. Thrilling experience...
