घोडखिंडीतुन पुढे जाणाऱ्या राजांना बांदलांची फौज कर्तव्यनिष्ठेच्या डोळ्यांनी बघत होती....

असेच दोन डोळे होते जाधवांच्या लेकाचे शंभुसिंहाचे...

आपल्या जाणाऱ्या राजाला त्या पोराने डोळे भरून बघितलं आणि राजांच्या त्या पाठमोऱ्या रुपाला हात जोडले....

डोळ्यासमोर वादळी पावसात भिजत चाललेला सह्याद्रीचं वादळ शंभुसिंहाच्या मनात अनेक वादळ घेऊन उभा होता....

" जिजाऊंच्या कुळातील देह हा.....!! खरंतर त्या माऊलीने जीवित केलेलाच देह..हा.....!! स्वराज्यासाठी त्या पापी अफझुल्या पुढे आपल्या एकुलत्या एक पोराला स्वराज्यासाठी पणाला लावणारी ती माऊली म्हणजे आई भवानीचचं रुप....!! "

मग आता त्या भवानीला पुढे ठेवून लढायचं.... गनीमाच्या छाताडावर भैरव बनून चढायचं आणि राखायचं हे मराठा मुलुख....!! "

जाधवांनी आपली तलवार वर केली....

सरसर तलवारी म्यानाबाहेर पडल्या, गोफण बाहेर आले, हातात दगड उचलल्या गेली....

नारा ए तकबीर .... म्हणत सिद्दी कासीम ची फौज डोळ्यासमोर होती...

दहा दहा च्या जोड घेऊन मावळं पुढे सरकली, बांदल जेध्यांनी मोर्चा सांभाळला... चोर साळुंखे ,खाटपे ,विचारे, काटे पुढे आलीत अवघा हिरडस मावळ लढत सुटलं....गजापुर शहारलं..ते चौदा ,सोळा वर्षालगतची पोरं लढाया लागली...

शंभुसिंहाची तलवार रणसंग्रामात नाचायला लागली...

गनीमाच्या नरड्याचा घास घेणारी तलवार भुक , तहान सर्व विसरली.... हर हर गर्जना मूलमंत्र आणि पावसाचं तुषार तहान भुक भागवायचं साधन.... ते जाधव कुळाचं देह लढत होतं ते स्वराज्यासाठी, महाराष्ट्रधर्मासाठी..
पण
शत्रूच्या रक्ताने माखलेल्या शरीरावर सप्प करत एक गनिमी तलवार लागली आणि लढत्या शंभुसिंहाचा देह खाली पडला, डोळ्यातुन ओसरणाऱ्या अश्रूत ,अखेरच्या श्वासाने, निघाणाऱ्या आत्मेने अखेर मागणं मागितलं....

" पुढला जन्म देशील जगदंबे तर या जिजाभवानीच्या स्वराज्यातच होऊ दे... या पेक्षा पुण्यभु नाही आणि या स्वराज्यापेक्षा पवित्र कर्म नाही.... आखरी मुजरा आऊसाहेब........"
