A motorcycle ride from Hagiang to Hanoi takes about 8-9 hours, which was too hectic to make it in one day because I had to work that day.

So I decided to do half of the distance on the first day, but was not sure where exactly to stay overnight.

When I checked Google Maps, I saw this huge lake in between, so I decided to look for a place to stay near the lake.

After some searching, I found a few guesthouses and decided to stay at Vu Linh Farmstay - Jiang Homestay

This was a beautiful place to stay by the lake. The family was so hospitable and made me feel at home.

The owner Giang/Jiang lives here with his wife, a son and a daughter.

The wifi in this accommodation was super fast and I could work here in peace.

They also offered a kayak that we could take into the lake and explore.

They offered delicious home cooked meals at a very low price.

Price for the stay: 150k per night per person
Wifi speed: 200mbps

Hà Giang is a city on the banks of the Lô River in the northeastern region of Vietnam. It is the capital of Hà Giang province.

Ha Giang is only 300 kilometres from Hanoi, but life in the province is different from most other places due to its topography and ethnic diversity.Travellers visit Hagiang as the starting and ending point for the famous Hagiangloop motorcycle tour..

At the end of my Hagiangloop motorcycle tour, we returned to the town of Hagiang and decided to stay there for one night.

We decided to stay at Mama's Homestay after a fellow traveller recommended it to us.

Mama's Homestay had dorm beds and a nice chill area where I could work from.

The staff was very friendly and helped us choose the right bus and travel times. They also provide motorcycles and drivers to explore the Hagiangloop.

During our stay, they served us with some delicious dinner and allowed me to use the kitchen if I wanted to cook something for myself.

The wifi in the accommodation was good and I could work without any problems.

Wifi speed: 30-40mbps
Price per dorm bed: 100k vnd (Approx $4.5)

Du Gia – A place to relax during your Ha Giang loop tour.

Du Gia is an unknown quiet village in Ha Giang. This place is visited almost exclusively by travelers who do the Ha Giang loop in 4 days or more. The best thing about this place is the peaceful and unspoiled beauty with its majestic natural landscape of mountains and rice paddies around it. In addition, the local people here are exceptionally hospitable and friendly.

Du Gia is a municipality in Yen Minh District in Ha Giang Province. It is located between the cities of Ha Giang and Meo Vac, both approximately 70 kilometers away.

We found our accommodation in this small and beautiful homestay called Du Gia Hoi Homestay. We stayed here on the 4th and last night of our Hagiangloop motorcycle tour.

The place was simple and had everything we needed to relax and of course the food here like all other homestays in Hagiangloop was super delicious.

They had decent wifi and a cellular network here in town and it was fun to work with a great view of the mountains.

Price of Accommodation: 200k vnd for dorm beds and 300k vnd for private beds. This price included an amazing homemade dinner and breakfast. (Approximately $8.5 - $12.8)

After the second day long ride in the Hagiang Loop we stayed in this beautiful homestay called Male Homestay which was located in D**g Van District.

Situated north of Ha Giang, near the Chinese-Vietnamese border, this plateau is covered by karst mountains.

D**g Van is an ideal place for trekking and mountain climbing, where grandiose mountains may challenge your spirit for real. In return, breathtaking landscapes, meetings with local ethnic minorities and learn from their life’s stories are nowhere can be found in the world.

Male Homestays had everything we needed for the night stay - comfortable stay, great food, beers/happy water, and amazing people.

Price for stay: 200k ( approx $6.37 including dinner and breakfast)

Wifi Speed: 13mbps

Hà Giang is a province in northern Vietnam bordering China. It is known for its forested limestone and granite mountains. The laid-back provincial capital, also called Hà Giang, is located on the Lô River.

I wanted to visit Ha Giang to take a motorcycle tour through the beautiful mountains of Ha Giang Loop.

After a long drive from Hanoi to Ha Gaing, I decided to stay in town for a day and I found this beautiful place called Fai Thiên Hà Giang Homestay.

It is a nice accommodation on the outskirts of Ha Giang town with a view of the mountains and nature.

The next day I also worked from here. It was a very nice and comfortable place to work from.

They had good wifi and delicious home cooked dinner.

Wifi speed: 44mbps
Price for a small room: 150k vnd (about $6.5)

After visiting Ninh Binh, Vietnam I decided to ride towards Hanoi which was like my base city to stay while exploring different nearby destinations.

This time I decided to stay a bit further away from the Old Quarters in a quieter location.

I found this beautiful small hostel - Green Hostel

The best part about this hostel was the quiet neighborhood as compared to all the others the hostels that are located in the old quarters.

Also there was this huge garden very close to the stay where you can go for a peaceful walk in nature.

During my stay here, I got a nice balcony view to work from and good wifi connectivity.

Price per dorm bed: 120k per night (Approx. $5)

Wifi Speed: 40mbps

Tam Coc literally means three grottos located in Ninh Hai Commune, Hoa Lu District, Ninh Binh Province. Once upon a time this place was full up with flapping sea waves, passing many centuries the waves eroded into the cliffs created different shapes of karst landscapes.

Far from Hanoi about 100 km, Tam Coc is known as the ‘Ha Long Bay on land’ is a great destination for your holiday in north of Viet Nam. In Tam Coc Ninh Binh you’ve got the perfect recipe for calm and impressed on this beautiful countryside.

During my visit to Tam Coc, I stayed in Tam Coc Melody Homestay which is located in Ninh Binh and has a restaurant, a 24-hour front desk, bar, garden, year-round outdoor pool and playground.

Fitted with a patio, the units offer air conditioning and feature a TV and a private bathroom with bidet and slippers. Some units include a seating area and/or a balcony.

Continental and buffet breakfast options are available daily at Tam Coc Melody Homestay.

During my stay here I used to work from the restaurant by the swimming pool. It was a pleasant place to stay and work from.

The wifi speed was also pretty good.

Cat Ba Island is the largest of the 367 islands that make up the Cat Ba Archipelago. It is about 50 kilometres from Hai Phong City, a trip that takes up to an hour by speedboat. Cat Ba is also by far the largest island in the entire Halong Bay.

During my visit to this beautiful island, I stayed at Buffalo Hostels.

Located in Cat Ba, 1.6 km from Tung Thu Beach, Catba Buffalo Hostel offers accommodation with a bar, free private parking, a shared lounge and a garden.

It is a party hostel where you can meet expats from all over the world and enjoy the beauty of Catba Island.

I visited Catba Buffalo Hostel on weekdays so I had to work from there.I worked in the garden restaurant on the first floor and had a good work experience.

This place is really a value for money as they offer cheap stay, quality breakfast buffet, free beers from 7pm to 8pm, restaurant, swimming pool, pool table and many fun activities.

Ho Chi Minh City is one of the backpacking capitals of the world.

This city has more than 120 registered hostels, some of them are listed as the best hostels in the world.

Today I am staying at The Like Hostel. They have air conditioned dorms for as cheap as $8.5 per bed/night.

Friendly staff, clean beds, clean washrooms, lockers and a lovely dog.

I was working from the lobby at the ground floor, but they also have a rooftop chilling area where one can work using their wifi.
