Visiting the Masai Tribe was another highlight of the trip offering a fascinating glimpse into their rich cultural heritage and traditional ways of life. We were welcomed by their traditional dance and music. Their rhythmic drumming and energetic jumping dances reflected their joyful spirit and community unity.

In the absence of the village chief, we were welcomed and guided by his grandson (the future chief of the tribe). A rather interesting well-spoken youngster who runs the local school; he took us around and shared stories and legends of the Masai people, shedding light on their rich history and beliefs.

We were welcomed with very warm smiles and friendly greetings from all age groups going upto upwards of a 100 years, as we entered their traditional village, known as a Manyatta.

It was wonderful to learn how they prefer to return to the tribe after obtaining their education rather than stay in the city!! As we listened, we could not help but be captivated by the depth of their oral tradition and the importance they place on passing down their history from generation to generation.

Life is a collection of moments that become memories!!! And many were made these last 7 days in the company of an eclectic group of travellers from around the world. Asante Sana friends 🙏 (thank you in Swahili 😊)

Travelling to a new country - Kenya, feasting our eyes and senses on the stunningly vast vistas and the gentle giants, who were thankfully oblivious to our species, as we crowded around them with our camera shutters & binoculars!!

A childhood dream of seeing the "Big 5" in their natural habitat at Masai Mara became a reality for many of us!

Fifty Shades of Blue : last year it was nature at its best - the colors of the Adriatic on a trip to Croatia and Slovenia; in a previous year it was the famous Blue City of Jodhpur in our very own country; and this year it was the BlueTiles that brought alive the desserts of Central Asia in Uzbekistan!!!

Uzbekistan is a treasure trove of Islamic architecture, renowned world over for its beautiful blue and azure tiles adorning its buildings - domes, minarets, tombs, mosques, walls and ceilings. In Islamic tradition blue (al-azraq) often signifies the depths of the universe & turquoise is thought to have mystical qualities.

The beautiful mosaics adorning Mosques & Islamic architecture is a highlight of Uzbekistan. Such as the ceramic-tiled walls of Kalta Minor in Khiva; the azure tile designs on the Registan Madrassas & Shah-i-Zinda in Samarkand.

Each tile in Uzbekistan architecture is meticulously designed, every one is unique. Artists & designers all over the world are inspired by the tiles of Uzbekistan!

Every site was an opportunity for a photo-op and the cameras obliged!!!

When we talk of travel we talk not only about the sights seen, the architecture, history and culture....what i personally look forward to most are the People and Experiences that we are enriched by through our travels to distant lands. And Uzbekistan you did not disappoint!!!
The Pilav Cooking Masterclass with an 84 yo Granny (a Retired Professor) was the ultimate highlight!!! Her sense of humour, love for Hindustani Songs and very able demonstration and interaction got my heart!!! One couldnt have asked for more. (A 10 minute video is available on request, for anyone who wishes to have her recipe).

Dadi's two wishes as she saw us off post our ohhh so leisurely and satisfying dinner enjoyed at her beautiful home were : To travel (1) to Mecca and (2) to Hindustan!!! May both your dreams come true 'Dadi Jaan'🙏💓
