'Death of Agniveer Amritpal Singh on 11 October 23'

In an unfortunate incident, Agniveer Amritpal Singh died while on sentry duty in Rajouri Sector, due to a self inflicted gun shot injury. Court of Inquiry to ascertain more details is in progress.

Mortal remains of the deceased, accompanied by one Junior Commissioned Officer and four Other Ranks, were transported in a Civil Ambulance hired by the Unit of the Agniveer. Accompanying Army personnel also attended the last rites.

The cause of death being a self inflicted injury, no guard of honour or military funeral was provided, in accordance with the existing policy.

*TREE PLANTATION ON THE EVE OF GANDHI JAYANTI*

04 Oct 2023, Kalal, Nowshera, Rajouri District. Laying impetus to the ongoing efforts to educate the locals and school children regarding the importance of trees, floura and fauna, Indian Army conducted a tree plantation drive in Govt High School at Kalal. The saplings planted by the school children would contribute towards increasing the 'Green Cover' in the region and motivate people against deforestation. The tree plantation drive was also successful in creating awareness amongst the young generation towards conservation of nature and natural resources. Teachers and students alongwith officials from Forest Department appreciated this noble initiative undertaken by the Army and pledged to take care of each sapling by adopting and caring for it in future.

SWACHHATA ABHIYAAN DRIVE

03 Oct 2023, Rajouri, Poonch & Reasi District. In a remarkable display of commitment to social responsibility, Indian Army organized 'Swachhata Abhiyan Campaign' at different locations in Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi Districts. This noble endeavor not only aims to promote cleanliness and hygiene but also fosters a sense of community development in the region. The Campaign saw enthusiastic participation from the Indian Army and the Awaam including the active involvement of children making the entire effort even more encouraging. To acknowledge the contribution of children and to keep them motivated, books and stationery were distributed to them. The youth too, came forward to join hands with their elders, displaying their determination to create a cleaner and healthier environment for their community. This 'Swachhata Abhiyan' not only improved cleanliness and hygiene but also served as a beacon of hope and resilience, proving that collective actions can triumph over any challenge.

The event is being conducted from 02 Oct 2023 to 05 Oct 2023 with the noble objective of fostering sportsmanship and a competitive spirit amongst the youth. The tournament will see the participation from 14 teams and will provide a platform for the youth to display their sporting talent and skills. 29 Sep 2023, Rajouri District. Indian Army celebrated Eid-Milad-un-Nabi in different locations of Rajouri District with the Awaam. The festival was celebrated with traditional joy & gaiety. As part of the celebrations sweets were distributed to the populace, who reciprocated by thanking the men in uniform, promised solidarity and vowed to stand by the Indian Armed Forces at all times.
