Samudrika Naval Marine Museum is primarily designed to create awareness on various aspects of oceanic environment. 🌊🦑
It is maintained by the Indian Navy. ⚓️
It has 5 prominent sections: History of Andaman Islands, People of Andaman, 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦Archaeology, Geographical information and Marine life. 🗺
It houses a variety of collection of shells, corals and quite a few species of colorful fishes. 🐠🐡🐟

“Tumhe hum kalapani ki saza sunate hai!”, was such an iconic Bollywood dialogue in the 80s. 🎞️🎥 But only a few know it’s history.
Cellular Jail, also known as Kala Pani , located in Port Blair was built in 1906 by the British empire. 💂‍♀️💂‍♀️The dreadful overseas journey to the islands was what got its name as “Kalapani”.

But the courage, perseverance and camaraderie of our freedom fighters shook the British and hence the prison was built in an unsuccessful attempt to hinder our freedom struggle.

Many freedom fighters have been banished here, Veer Sawarkar, Soham Singh, Shiv Verma, Fazl-e-Haq Khairabadi , Yogendra Shukla to name a few. The walls of the prison still exude the patriotism of our freedom fighters, as it serves as a national memorial monument today. 🇮🇳
Moreover, the newly commissioned light and sound show swoops you back to the freedom struggle era making history come alive.!
