#backpackwithmom chapter - 4 DONE AND DUSTED
#backpackwithmom trips are a wholesome experience! Not only do we have early morning wake up calls to explore new spots, but we also sit together in the evenings and let our hair down…moms and kids both get time to bond with each other and we try to give them a taste of the local flavours..be it music, food or experiences. We TALK…because it helps when one meets as strangers and through these conversations we leave as lifelong friends.
This time, a local legend from Sohra, Tenny Gregory was invited to perform and spend some time with us. He spent hours with us and began with some really beautiful conversations about life and everything that we need to be grateful and mindful about… and then we sang some soulful numbers with him…as the chilly Sohra wind blew outside with trees swaying in the wind, we danced along with our kids…the energy that night was something else!

Umngot - A river that acts as a natural boundary between two countries… and is known to be the cleanest in Asia..
#backpackwithmom moms and kids enjoyed this river to their hearts’ content. From cliff jumping to boating, kayaking, floating and swimming in these waters, the thrill of seeing them immerse themselves with their children was unbeatable!
Your phone signals automatically catch Bangladesh network, so we turn off roaming or better still, switch off all network when we reach there after a challenging drive! Once you are there, its just you, these waters and the night sky…
For those planning to witness the natural phenomenon of absolutely transparent waters, a visit in the winter months (Nov end - December) is ideal as the dry season makes the river waters seem transparent when the sun rays fall on them. In the monsoons, this same river turns a murky brown and it changes colour as the rainfall decreases in the upper regions…
P.S. notice the rhythmic hand coordination of the boatmen in this reel…

Its going to be 2023 in a couple of months…and as I sit and contemplate about the months gone by (not over yet :) this year has been really satisfying for #backpackwithmom . Although we’ve done only two chapters this year, they have both been completely unique in design, format and execution. Ive worked with some awesome travel partners this year and I hope to continue doing so in the coming year. I believe it is only through feedback and learning that I will make each next trip better for the ones travelling with me…and its imperative that I pick up what you want as I go along on this journey.
Well, I am always here for my #backpackwithmom community who are equally passionate and excited about travelling with their kids. So I thought I shall ask you first and see if we can align on what we want to experience together. I answer multiple DMs about upcoming trips every single day, and I want to give you an opportunity to let me know how and where you wish to travel with me. Who knows maybe we’ll make it happen together. So please answer the following in a comment only below:
1) What Indian/international destination would you wish to backpack to with your child?
2) Do you prefer a particular season (summer, winters, monsoons, autumn) or only on school holidays?
3) How long do you want the trip to be? 4/5 days or more than one week to ten days?
4) Would you want a completely raw experience (what the essence of a shared backpacking budget trip is) or are you looking for more custom exclusive experiences while retaining the backpacking style of travelling. These can be in stay, food, travel etc. (this is super important info for a trip curator)
5) Do you want the trip to be full of outdoor activities and experiences or would you also want some mindful learning experiences ?
6) Anything else that you want to suggest/share?
Go all out and share your comments and suggestions below for your travel wishlist:) Il definitely read them all and see if I can make your
Here it is… the official teaser video made specially for #backpackwithmom - chapter 2 Goa!
So at the onset, it captures the essence of what our trip was… we covered a side of Goa that is beyond the stereotypes of sun, sand and sea!
Soul.travelling really helped make this trip a possibility with their unique trails and we customised it to suit moms and kids. We discussed it down to the last detail, and I have to thank @soul.travelling for being the most amazing travel business partner! They had us sorted from Day 1 and ensured we had a super experience on each day, while continuing to follow up every evening to make sure plans were on track. Kudos to Zahur and the the entire team for the kickass experience!
Acolmeia for being the perfect accommodation and hospitality partners on this trip! Special thanks to Dhruv for being the sweetest and most patient host…
The moms who booked this trip @_thegirlwith_curls @hookyarnandcounter @abhi.trueliving7 @soni_musicbuff and @nishi283 I dont think I could have asked for a more ‘Josh Type’ group for this Goa chapter!! You girls made the trip happen with your continuous support and excitement. I will always cherish every day spent together with you and your beautiful children! ❤️
As for @saclorine_photography Sachin, who quit his engineering job to follow his passion..and who I connected with after speaking to several photographers for this trip… cant thank you enough for contributing to this the way you have! You completely understood the essence and vision to the T, and with you talent and hard work made these beautiful shots happen!
So @saclorine convinced the 5 moms to record video messages which come towards the end of this video! I had absolutely no idea they would all conspire to make this beautiful beautiful video happen! 🥺🥺
Today, I am so grateful I chose to pursue this mad dream of a backpacking community for moms in India!!
Enjoy the video!!

Free Folk, a travel operator that believes in and organises niche traveller and volunteer experiences in the North Eastern States of India and I are co-curating this trip for you!!
Building a community of “backpacking moms” in India is a dream that started after I came back from my first backpacking trip across Germany with my baby in 2016 and realised how under explored this concept is the country… many mothers asked for tips from my experiences and wanted to venture out on their own… one interesting thing I picked up during my travels was valuing a sense of community and it only makes sense to invite fellow travel hungry moms to join me as we travel together to the abode of clouds…
We leave in early december with all safety protocols in place.
Message Free Folk or me to know more details about this backpacking trip!!
For moms reading this who have always wanted to venture outdoors with their children, this is your sign. Come join us!!
