Meet Anuradha, a young and spirited woman from Sankri. Many of you must have seen Anuradha on your treks, guiding you through the trails. Anuradha is a cherished Trek Leader of our team. She started as a guide with us and had a real passion and enthusiasm for navigating the mountains. She is also the first woman mountain guide from her village.
With a passion and a determination to hone her skills, Anuradha completed her Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) at the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) and now she has completed her Advance Mountaineering Course with flying colours.
In a candid conversation, she narrated her entire journey from the beginning to the end. Starting with training in the Tekhla region, acclimatizing in Gangotri, and progressing through challenging terrains like Kedar Kharak and Kedartal where they received training in the Kedar Bamak Glacier. Their proficiency in skills like jumaring, toe kicking, and self-anchor were tested during their ascent to Jogin Peaks. And then, after days of perseverance, the girls completed the trek and in the end, Anuradha received the “Best Trainee” Award.
“It was a moment of celebration, not just for me but for all who underwent the journey” says Anuradha.

Bhrigu Lake Trek is one of the most picturesque and popular treks in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is named after the legendary sage Bhrigu, who is said to have meditated in this area. In 2007, two young mountaineers, Rakesh Pant and Sandeep Rawat, met at the start of a Siachen expedition. The expedition ended, but a deep friendship had just begun.
