Prashar Lake is a well-kept secret in the Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh. The lake is located at a height of 2,730 m (8,960 ft) above sea level.

It is believed that Sage Prashar meditated on the banks of this lake, hence it is named Prashar Lake.
The lake holds mythological importance that dates back to the era of Pandavas. After the Mahabharat war, the Pandavas were returning with Lord Kamrunag. When they reached this place, Kamrunag loved the tranquil surroundings and decided to live here forever. So, Bheem, one of the Pandava brothers, rammed his elbow on one of the mountains and created a big dent in the land. This dent became Prashar Lake.

Parashar Lake has a floating island that changes positions often addressed as a mysterious floating island.

The mystery of a floating island on the lake, the mesmerizing vistas, and the serene tranquillity echoes in the surroundings of the lake. You can even enjoy adventure activities like trekking and camping at Prashar.

The Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) is a research institute based in Shimla, India. It was set up in 1964 and started functioning from 20 October 1965.

The building was originally built as a home for Lord Dufferin, Viceroy of India from 1884–1888 and was called the Viceregal Lodge. The building was designed by Henry Irwin, an architect in the Public Works Department.
The Viceregal Lodge had electricity in 1880's, much before the rest of the town. The building also was equipped with a sophisticated firefighting mechanism through wax-tipped water ducts.

The building has witnessed many historic decisions. The SIMLA CONFERENCE was held here in 1945. The decision to carve out Pakistan and East Pakistan from India was also taken here in 1947.

The Scandal Point of Shimla is where Mall road joins Ridge road. The place got its name in the 19th century. Nobody exactly knows how did the place got its name, but the most popular story I have grown listening to goes this way: Its name arose from the commotion caused by the supposed elopement of a British Viceroy's daughter with the Maharaja of PatialaMaharaja in 1892.

The place of intersection of the Ridge and the Mall, where he eloped with her, came to be called Scandal Point.
