✨🔥We are so grateful that the universe is blessing Dhuni with wonderful people and experiences. As the saying goes, 'your vibe attracts your tribe,' and it's so true. We were fortunate to have the divine Sensei
visit and gift us the ancient Chinese self-healing art of Tai Chi and Qi Gong. Through many intense sessions, they guided us to channel our energies and cleanse our bodies, minds, and souls.

Learning this sacred art has always been a dream, and we were blessed with these powerful, kind divine souls who showed us the way to mindfulness and self-healing. We now feel that this was the missing piece in Dhuni. With this addition, the light within Dhuni will grow even stronger, more powerful, and will always radiate love and positive energy.

We thank our beloved senseis for giving us this precious sacred gift and offer our deepest gratitude to the masters. ✨🔥🥋

After careful consideration and six years of experience, we've come to a decision. We kindly request travelers to take their trash when leaving Dhuni. Located in a village surrounded by forest, managing plastic waste is a challenge. While we make eco-bricks, it's not a complete solution, and we can't eco-brick all the waste.
Our aim is to become a plastic waste-free homestay, but we need your support. In doing so, we hope to attract eco-conscious and mindful travelers who value the environment. We extend our gratitude to past guests who cooperated with us by taking their trash when they left. We warmly welcome such mindful travelers to our land ✨💚

On our quest for a zero waste living, the universe sent us one more angel Moitri, a month back. During her stay, she taught us to make bio enzyme, tooth powder, shampoo and eco printing.
We always wanted to replace toxic chemical packed in floor cleaners, washing powder, toothpaste and shampoo with something eco-friendly. The major reasons being for to decrease our plastic footprint, for ours and the environment's health and lastly, to be more self-sufficient.
About Moitri, she's a zero-waste traveller who left her job and started travelling in exchange for work. She's an amazing artist and photographer, during her stay for 20 days she generated not a single-waste. She had her own tooth powder, bath powder, bio-enzymes for cleaning purposes and also a bio enzyme starter for us. So zero waste travel is possible! And now she's sharing her knowledge of a self-reliant life across South India by conducting multiple natural colour workshops.
While she was living here, everyday we did something new and productive, exchanging ideas, sharing, experimenting, and growing together. We are so thankful and grateful to her for giving us this precious gift of knowledge, we shall carry on and pass on to more people.
We know that in today's world it's not possible to go 100% zero-waste but then we also believe that, if we live consciously and use things mindfully we can make some impact and reduce our plastic footprint to some extent. So that the generation after us can witness what our planet has to truly offer and we can build a life that does as little harm to the planet as possible.

"When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it" ~ Paulo Coelho
We have always dreamt of having a mud fire oven and finally it came true, when the universe sent us two angels, Julia and Felix from the land of Germany. In the past two weeks, they helped mold this dream into a beautiful reality. With all the elements being of the earth and hence eco-friendly, we used mud, soil, sand, wood, rice husk, stones, and aluminium sheets for the chimney and roof.
It has been a fun-filled and productive journey of laying out our bricks of innovation through collaboration, conceptualization, and a whole lot of experimentation. Finally, with the help of everyone's labor and love over two weeks, our dream is brought to life in the shape of a Mud-Fire Oven. Now, we wait in anticipation over the next 6 weeks as the oven dries and excitement builds to bake our first pizzas, breads, buns and other treats.

We have deep gratitude towards everyone that was a part of this enriching endeavour of learning and labor.

We all travel to various destinations from time to time motivated by our diverse emotions and desires. Perhaps it is a spike we get from the past of human history when we used to be travellers by default in search of food and shelter.Or perhaps we crave for the 'high' we receive when we go out of our daily lives and sense something new and different ,something majestic and peaceful , something which takes us out from our current situations and makes us think differently.
But then we stopped doing this. We stopped serving to the basic purpose of travelling. We became tourists. We shortened our journey time and stuck to the mindset of 'have to see everything quickly '. We caped ourselves to certain limits, certain agendas ,certain 'lists' of activities and 'the tickmark/checklist ' destinations. We started seeing places with the first questions :- ' waha kya kya hai dekhne ke liye'. We first google - '10 most interesting things to do at....' And then thanks to 'internet of things', we keep googling till we find the most romanchak place which suits all our requirements, fits our budget of wants, and caters to our subidha(convinence).Yes,convinence that's what invented a lot of things in our lives ,things which automate processes in a click or a push of a button. I know it's good but is it good all the time? Shouldn't we ever try to go out of our comfort zone and for once be at a place to 'be with ourselves'?
Now, let's pick up the logic of 'places to see' and how this has been corrupted in recent times by the travel companies, the local authorities and of course us - the tourists and our 'demands'. Because we are not content with what we are and what we have, we start seeing the same around us. Because we keep accumulating material possessions in our life to fill the gap of dissatisfaction and low self worth, we also want to do the same by unnecessary non functional non sustainable objects in nature and disrupt its equilibrium and name it 'places to visit','historic monuments', 'architectural heritage' etc.
If we want to display our artistic expression, we would do so with the resources available locally and build something which is complementing the surrounding spaces, not something which is over powering and crowding the already beautiful landscape.
Eco tourism as per our experience and understanding so far, is when the tourist starts traveling (and not touring) responsibly and the locals start receiving them with the feeling of universal brotherhood . It is a beautiful exchange of culture when both the guest and the host respect the nature and meet with the intention of learning from each other. It is when we are content with just visiting a place and being there, with ourselves . When we don't have a checklist to complete . We go with no expectations and receive the abundant surprises of local cuisine, wild flora and fauna ,old culture, and most of all 'love'.
Even if one of us can cultivate this feeling, we are sure one day someone with authority and governance will stop the unnecessary construction of smarak, cultural parks, skywalks, rope ways and all those things which do not belong there.
Let us be in the moment and absorb what nature has to offer and live the destination where we have arrived and go back with love filled memories and lots of learnings and experiences which will help us lead and live a better life ❤️

Experiential learning can help children grow into emotionally stable adults with their own areas of interests and thought-processes.

Every weekend at Dhuni, we spend our afternoons painting, growing plants, making eco bricks, and interacting with children to help then connect with the soil and learn to coexist with nature in harmony.

We believe that learning how to grow one’s own food is important to teach children about our dependence on nature and the need to protect it.

Many kids think that we get our food from the supermarkets. It is essential that parents take children to farms and gardens and teach them how food is grown, cared for, and produced with patience by farmers, so that it can eventually be consumed by us.

At Dhuni, we follow permaculture and grow different species of plants together. This brings a lot species of birds, butterflies, animals, and bees to our garden, enabling us to introduce young children to them. Identifying different flowers and chasing butterflies is an activity thoroughly enjoyed by children.

As we make eco bricks, we persuade children to manage their plastic waste efficiently. As the future generation of this planet, it is crucial that we educate them about the ways in which plastic is and can harm mother earth.

Through fun activities, we aim to bring children closer to the environment and believe that as adults we can also learn a lot more about ourselves if we spend time with nature 🍀🦋🌻

We are very happy to tell you that Yangang’s first ever Plastic Waste Management Awareness was a success. Many people joined us in our initiative to create awareness about the consequences of throwing and burning plastic, and were enthusiastic to learn efficient plastic waste management solutions.

We are extremely thankful towards all the volunteers, who made this event possible and the people who came to support the cause. We hope that our eco-camp has motivated at least a few people to adopt a zero waste lifestyle and created a small ripple, that will lead to bigger changes.

Till then, we shall continue to spread the message and create awareness.

Let’s go Zero Waste!

We only have ONE EARTH.
Earth is HOME to all kind of living species not just to Mankind. So, we are as responsible as keeping it clean, just like our own living Home.
Our locality Yangang, itself is such a beautiful place. We also have a Nature gifted Natural “Neya waterfall" just few kms away. It is just heartbreaking scenario to see trash all over the place everytime we visit this beautiful water fall.It doesn’t just awestruck us by it’s beauty but it's also a source of fresh drinking water for the people .
So we took the initiative to clean the place few week back.
It seems that still didn’t work and people didn’t realise. It was back to square one, even more actually.
so this time instead of giving up, we came up with the idea of sign boards.Hopefully people will read them , comprehend and appreciate the beauty harmlessly. If we locals don't act now then even this place will be like some of the tourist spots we see around Gangtok(full of trash). Day won’t be Soon when Yangang will also be tourist destination because of many tourism projects on the way.
Definitely,The future is predictable and so we need to start taking actions now itself. Locals need to be sensitised as it all starts from Us.
Therefore We urge the locals to come forward and take care of our beautiful place because outsiders are not responsible to preserve it, WE ARE.
"We do not inherit the Earth from our ancestors , we borrow it from our children " - Native American proverb
Last but not the least we would like to thank everyone who came to help and support us 🤗💗
