On June 18, 2023, Govt Registered tourist guides of Assam were gathered at Guwahati to identify the place-specific requirements of the communities of Assam as well as other states of north-east and to develop sustainable tourism in priority places of tourism. In order to promote more community-based and sustainable tourism, senior tourist guides as well as diligent tourist guides have formed the Assam Tourist Guide Association. The Committee, constituted by tourist guides of various parts, seeks to play an important role in maintaining and protecting the public heritage and natural resources of the state as well as the awareness of responsible tourism.
