Kopeshwara Temple is at Khidrapur, Kolhapur district, Maharashtra. It was built in the 12th century by Shilahara king Gandaraditya between 1109 and 1178 CE. It is to the east of Kolhapur, ancient & artistic on the bank of the Krishna river.Even though Shilahars were Jain kings, they built and renovated various Hindu temples, thus depicting their respect and love for all religions. Kopeshwara means angry Shiva in Sanskrit.The entire temple is divided into four parts Swargamandapa, Sabhamandapa,Antaral kaksha and Garbha gruha. The Swargamandapa has a vestibule with an open top. The sanctum is conical. The exterior has stunning carvings of deities.
When we enter the Swarga Mandapa, it is open to the sky with a circular opening. Looking at the sky one gets mesmerised and gets a feeling of looking at the heavens, justifyies the name Swarga Mandapa. At the periphery of the Swarga Mandapa we can see beautifully carved idols of Lord Ganesh, Karthikeya swami, Lord Kubera, Lord Yamraj, Lord Indra, etc. along with their carrier animals like peacock, mouse, elephant etc. If we stand at the center of the Swarga Mandapa we can see idols of Lord Brahma on the left hand side wall of the entrance of sabha mandap. In the center we can see the Lord Shiva Kopeshwar shivling situated in the Girbh Gruha & towards right hand side wall we can see the beautifully carved idol of Lord Vishnu.

Bhooteshwarnath Temple 🏵️

Marauda village situated at nestled among thick forests 3km away from Gariaband. Chattisgarh, BHARAT (India) 🚩

The world’s largest Shivalinga given by the nature sparkling in the region surrounded by picturesque forests and hills. The news comes where the size of Mahakal and other Shivlings decreses while there’s a Shivling whose size does not shrink but increases every year. This Shivling is produced naturally.Every year on Mahashivratri and Monday of Sawan people (Kawariya) arrives here. This Shivling located in Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh is called here “Bhooteshwarnath”, which also called “Bhakurra”. In Chhattisgarh like “Dwadas Jyotirling” it is recognised as “Ardhnarishwar Shivling”.

The most surprising fact is that the size of the Shivling is continuously increasing every year. Probably because the number of devotees who come here is rising every year.
