The World is behind a race of acquiring more wealth which is nothing but an illusion created by our fancy world. In return, we are destroying the real treasure which nature bestowed us. Thekkady and it's programs are underrated and till now we couldn't project our destination beyond a day in their tour packages. Thekkady( Periyar Tiger Reserve), one of the best managed National Park in India, known for its amazing ecotourism programs and community oriented tourism activities has failed to project itself as a destination beyond a day. Therefore it's high time to project the tourism potential of this landscape through various destination promotion programs.

Monsoon Retreats Ecostay is walking the talk of ecological restoration through sustainable tourism practices. The mission we started as an experiment
has already completed 8 Years. In eight years, we had 4 major periodic afforestation drive. This is mainly because, we would like to have different layers of canopy cover. Even the rain need to negotiate 3 layers before it reaches the soil. From our experience, this kind of canopy layers plays a vital role in preventing soil erosion by checking the intensity of rainfall, which otherwise strikes the ground at different magnitude.

For those who are crazy in exploring wilderness, remember one thing. Always take a companion with you, never venture alone even if the terrain is so known to you. It's hardly take time before we come across some sudden twist in plot especially when in Wilderness.

A team from Wildlife Trust of India has inspected Monsoon Retreats Ecostay to see the progress of Species recovery Program for the conservation of Amphibian in human dominated landscape. Inspection was followed by herping at night.

Many of us have seen these frogs... especially during monsoon days... As the days slowly gave way to darkness, the entire atmosphere is filled with their cacophony... As a part of Environment day study, we would like to invite like minded people who love to know and learn more about these tiny creatures and their contribution to human kind...

Bonding is Always Special... Some moments from wilderness showcase the bond within their family member. When the topic of discussion is Elephant, then it become even more special. Today, we witnessed something similar to that at Periyar Tiger Reserve(also an important Elephant Reserve of our Country). A sudden trumpeting call followed by mad rush of herd into the jungle, made us curious. Couldn't figure any reason for few mins untill we spot a pack of wilddogs. In few mins, they crossed the area and headed towards the downstream of the Periyar river. Then the herd came out but they exhibit a special bonding gesture. The language of love and care...
