Mythology Monday— Adiyogi Shiva

In the yogic culture, Shiva is not known as a god, but as the Adiyogi or the first yogi – the originator of yoga. He was the one who first put this seed into the human mind.

According to the yogic lore, over fifteen thousand years ago, Shiva attained to his full enlightenment and abandoned himself in an intense ecstatic dance upon the Himalayas. When his ecstasy allowed him some movement, he danced wildly. When it became beyond movement, he became utterly still.

What Adiyogi - Shiva transmitted to Saptarishis were the fundamentals of a science called "Yoga". A science of radical self-transformation that continues to live on 1000s of years after the first exposition.

The goal was Mukti- freedom from a life of physical enslavement and psychological bo***ge. Ecstatic, boundless, infinite life. And that freedom Adiyogi declared, is within the reach of every human being.

Maharana Pratap left no monuments or forts to remind us of his accomplishments. However, his name and memory have lived on, centuries after his death.
HALDIGHATI - where, on 21st June, 1576, the Mughal Army led by Raja Man Singh clashed with the guerrilla army led by Maharana Pratap.
The Mughals had the sheer advantage of numbers, but Maharana Pratap and his men knew the lay of the land better than anyone else.
The armies clashed at the foothills of the Aravalli Ranges, and thousands fell in the battle that ensued. It was then that the place got its name – Rakht Talai. The Maharana himself was injured, and so was his horse.
It was then that the horse, Chetak, distinguished himself by taking his master to safety against all odds, only to succumb to his injuries. It is Chetak who is most remembered as the hero of Haldighati, for the battle had no clear outcome.
