Winter Spiti Valley is very different from the Summer Spiti Valley. The enormous mountains, deep terrains, barren landforms and spots of green are all completely engulfed in a blanket of snow.

You may run out of battery and memory card space due to the enthralling show, but you will not run out of the desire to take images.

It's a lot of fun when you don't have much to do in Spiti Valley during the winter and can actually socialise with the locals, enjoy Spitian cusine and learn to live a tougher life.

Chandratal / Chandra Taal or Moon Lake is a desolate yet lovely lake in Himachal Pradesh, northern India, at an elevation of 14100 feet. It's six kilometres from Kunzum Pass in Himachal Pradesh's Spiti and Lahaul districts.

The lake's name comes from its rounded shape. Chandratal is thought to have been discovered by traders from Tibet or Ladakh who traveled to the region. The traders used to relax at the lake after a long journey before continuing on to Kullu or Spiti.

The sweet water lake is about 2.5 kilometers long and 2.5 kilometers wide. It is the source of the Chandra River, which joins the Bhaga River to form the Chandrabhaga River, which then takes on the name Chenab.

Dhankar Monastery in Spiti Valley, strategically located at the highest point, was formerly the capital of Spiti in the 17th century. It is one of the region's five major Buddhist centers and tourism draws.
Dhankar Monastery, which is centrally positioned in the Spiti region, gives a panoramic view of the Spiti valley. It is located in the Himachal Pradesh district of Lahaul and Spiti in northern India.
It was chosen by the Nonos even in ancient times to have better control and safety from its enemies. The Nonos, the royals of Spiti, used to live at the Dhankar fort. Dhankar, which is remote and shut off from the rest of the country, has escaped modernization. The confluence of the Spiti and Pin Rivers is where Dhankar is located.

Kaza in Spiti valley is a charming village located in Himachal Pradesh's stunning Lahaul and Spiti Valley, located at an elevation of roughly 12,500 feet on the left bank of the Spiti River. It is recognized as the Spiti Valley's sub-divisional headquarters and the largest township in the Lahaul and Spiti Valley, which is one of Himachal Pradesh's most beautiful landscapes.

Kaza in Spiti valley is a major tourist destination in Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul. It is separated into two sections: the old Kaza and the new Kaza. The old Kaza is known as Kaza Khas and has the king's palace, monasteries, gompas, and antique structures, while the new Kaza is known as Kaza Soma and contains government offices, hotels, and restaurants.

Pin Valley National Park in Spiti valley, located in Himachal Pradesh's Lahaul, is home to more than 20 species of animals and birds, including the endangered Snow leopard. Pin Valley, a wildlife park established in 1987, is located in the district's Spiti division at an altitude ranging from 11,500 to 20,000 feet. The Pin River runs through the valley's bottom. The park's core zone is 675 square kilometres, while the buffer zone covers 1150 square kilometres. The park does not allow foreign nationals to enter. Permits are required for Indians to enter the park.

The park's most important resident is the snow leopard. There are approximately 12 large cats in the park. Aside from the snow leopard, the park's other highlights include the Siberian ibex, bharal, weasel, red fox, and marten. Pika, snow c**k, bearded vulture, chukor, golden eagle, griffon, Himalayan chough, and raven call it home.

The greatest time to watch the animals is during the winter, when they relocate to lower places because to the cold. Over 400 plant species, including medicinal herbs, can be found in the park. It is known for two uncommon plant species known as Juniper and Birch. Another highlight is the park's alpine pasture meadows.

Kedarkantha Trek during Spring in March-April, the scene starts to change as the snow begins to melt in certain places. Although you will still find residual snow, the dark colours of the oak forests and the green of pines start to become visible. The changing scenery looks like a giant waking up from sleep as the mountains start to come alive once again. The mornings are warm and bright while nights are cold.
