When I am not travelling, the load of work can get overwhelming. A relaxing day with friends can be a huge stress buster.

It can be a simple meet up over coffee or a quiet lunch. Just catching up with our lives and sitting in shared peace and understanding.

I am lucky to have a lot of wonderful friends, despite having such busy and complicated lives (when is it not!)

I woke up at 5 am and started on a hike to the Sankar gompa. It was a cold morning with temperature at 9 degrees celsius! Bundled up in all the warm clothing I had, I started marching following the google map.

After a kilometre and a half's walk, I got to this quiet little monastery. I was the first one there! I spent a good 10 minutes just sitting around and enjoying the silence.

Then it was time to head back and grab some breakfast!

These gorgeous blooms from our stay in Yercaud at the quaint Carlton house. It was peak of summer in Hyderabad and we drove down to Yercaud for a short summer break. We were greeted with foggy mornings and chilly nights. Was a welcome respite from the blistering heat back home. These flowers surrounded our rooms and were a joy to come across every morning!

I had gone to Singapore with my son who was just about 6 years old then. With a fussy eater (as most children are at that age) I could barely try all that I wanted to. Hawker Chan, the then Michelin starred hawker stall was one of them.

But fortunately, I got to try out his famous soya sauce chicken rice in Hyderabad at a food festival. It was good, not great but then again taste is so subjective!

Exploring the world, we sometimes forget to explore our own city. You are too busy working and running out for a holiday, than taking a breath to see it's beauty.

A while ago, with a friend visiting Hyderabad, I went on a heritage walk through the old lanes of my city. The quaint old quarters of the king's favourite, Begum mahal was a beautiful sight on a Sunday morning. Blue fountain and doors and lots of tress all around. It was under restoration and I hope to see it as it was in its glorious days.

At the ruins of Spišsky hrad, an UNESCO world heritage site. This is one of largest European castles. Started with being under Hungary, then Czechoslovakia and then Slovakia. There is a beautiful love story connected to this castle and you can hear it on its tour.

The sun was bright and the grass was green! What a beautiful day to explore!

Bright eyed on my first ever solo trip. First day out in Germany, even Europe. I remember this day vividly. Coming out of the airport, the cold air hit me so hard that I couldn't breathe. I wasn't prepared for this weather at all. It was colder than it was predicted.

My sweet AirBnB host lent me her red coat (in this picture) and I went to the Munich museum which was just a short walk (or maybe not). Once in there, my camera wouldn't work. I couldn't figure out the settings. So, I called my husband for 15 secs on an international call! A month later, I received a 10k Rs bill for it! 😂 I definitely can't forget this day.

The beauty of the Kumaon region is incomparable. The snow clad mountains turning golden with the sunrise is a sight you wouldn't mind waking up for. You have to see it to believe it.

We went on an early morning hike through the beautiful Rhododendron forests. The cold air could be felt seeping through our warm clothing and we had to walk faster to try and keep ourselves warm. We saw the son rise over the Nanda Devi mountains and walked past resin tapped trees.

This place has a beauty of its own and you definitely should go here if nature is your jam!

Throwback to this happy holiday in Koh samui more than 5 years ago!
This was a trip where my birthday coincided with the full moon party. Best part? Right at midnight, I realised that I had lost my phone! So I brought in my birthday crying! 😭😂

Despite that it was a wonderful trip! The company (a friend was travelling with me), the experiences, the food, the people and all the bar hopping were absolutely unforgettable!

My first trip into Europe. I started with Germany, Deutschland. While that trip is full of all the first time feelings, one of the most memorable and unforgettable part was this man and his Doner kabab stand.

Converting every Euro into rupees, I was looking for the best and economical (only Indians can make sense of this term) options. These 3 euro diners were just perfect for my wallet and my belly.

I would stop by his place first thing in the morning, pick a doner, chit chat for a bit and then move onto the agenda of the day. We even had a long chat one evening, where he tried to convince me to open doner stands all over India! I should have done it.

Now, I think about going back to Germany quite often. Maybe, one day I will.

The post hike glow!

While travelling through Karbi anglong, the only thing that kept me going was the nature and the hikes. I went into this region blind and was unaware of how difficult it would be to get there and how remote it was.

My stay was beautiful but rudimentary. Not having an attached bathroom was just 😱. Nothing else to do, no network connectivity and no fibre in the food! These hikes were my saving grace and the reason for this smile!

In a few days I will be back in Ladakh again! Back to the first retreat of 2023 with another set of active travellers.

The cold temperature. the blue skies, the tall mountains and the new faces! Like every time, I am excited and nervous at the same time. The anxiety is part of my life and personality now and I have turned it into a positive influencer. It helps me be super planned and organised.

But still, there is always a chance of things going wrong. Which by the way happens every time! I have been fortunate, that I have solved them all or managed them without my guests getting inconvenienced, or even knowing what went wrong.

The biggest struggle has been to get people to see or even be aware of what they want, and what these retreats stand for. Wanting to only tick of lists and places to see. The standard practice of wanting discounts, or paying the bare minimum and then expecting the fanciest hotel or the biggest rooms. Again, I have never have had to deal with people like this at my retreat yet. They are usually filtered out in the beginning. And I hope that streak continues!

Here's to meeting and connecting with like minded, fitness and travel enthusiasts people in the future too!

The small village of Kongthong in Meghalaya has recently started getting a lot of attention. Thanks to their age old culture of coming up with a unique whistling tune for the children when they are born. They not only have a name but also a tune that is only given by their mother.

The amazing fact is that, despite having close to 800 inhabitants, no two tunes are the same! Have you been here yet?

Pretender!

As I reached the tea garden, the work for the day was done and all the workers were chilling. I quickly borrowed a basket and got set and ready for this pretend act. 🙈

I wish I could spend more time here, but it was close to sunset and I had to leave. Hopefully, soon again! And this time, real work and no pretence!

Starting the week thinking of the very first time I saw cherry blossoms.

Japan was definitely on my list, but this isn't from there. 😆I got to see cherry blossoms in Meghalaya last year and as you can see, I was thrilled!

Needless to say, Japan is still on my list! ❤️

The uber interesting community of Kongthong. Known as the whistling village, Kongthong is a small village in Meghalaya. The village is clean and very beautiful, but the most interesting feature is the unique culture of it's inhabitants where at birth, a mother comes up with a tune for her child. This tune is specific for each individual and everyone calls out using the same. Here we have a lady from the village demonstrating it for me. Join us in Meghalaya from 23-29th January! Well, this was an experience and a half! I was in Karbi anglong in Assam and it was my day two. I had done a morning hike and was happy to spend rest of the day, relaxing and reading. But the place I was staying at pushed the idea of visiting this place which has "miraculous" rocks that make music. It was 50kms one way and in those roads and that terrain that felt like a lifetime! Finally it was these little rocks that make different sounds when they hit each other. There are loads of common reasons for it, but the locals obviously believe it to be divine. I was not angry, I had given up. Fine, I saw a place that didn't much to me but it definitely did for the people of the land.
