If you are looking for a weekend getaway to some much-needed dose of peace and tranquility, this off-beat destination will surely make your heart sing. Mukteshwar is a village and tourist destination in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, India. It sits high in the Kumaon Hills at an altitude of 2171 meters (7500 feet), 51 km from Nainital, 72 km from Haldwani, and 343 km from Delhi.

More and more reason to visit this quiet little abode of serenity is this secluded swiss style chalet mansion where the mornings start with the sweet chirping of birds and fragrance of the forest and the evening concludes with the crackling of the wood at the bonfire. To accompany you with its sweet gestures is a cute little puppy, instantly uplifting your spirits. The experience will leave you feeling mesmerized and blessed at the extraordinaire of mother nature.

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.

- Winston Churchill

This quote echoes in my ears every now and then and perhaps is the reason why I write this blog.
I like to travel and explore and I also like to preserve and protect. And, this realization of my election of the above has evolved after my recent voyage.
Sustainable tourism is the need of the hour.

The world tourism organization (WTO) defines sustainable tourism in the following manner: "sustainable tourism development meets the needs of present tourists and host regions while protecting in enhancing opportunities for the future. It is envisaged as leading to management of all resources in such a way that economic, social and aesthetic needs can be fulfilled one maintaining cultural integrity, essential ecological processes, biological diversity, and life support systems."

Tourism and the environment are interdependent. While one provides benefits and creates opportunities the other creates a base on which the former survives. In the haste of exploring, we must not hurt what comes along our way.
Traveling should be a conscious voyage.

The earth has suffered enough due to our lack of consciousness towards preserving it for our present and future generations. While we make plans to travel and explore we forget that the mere idea comes in existence only when the earth is left worth traveling. For how long will we cherish what the World has to offer to us when we are hurting it every day every minute.

Sustainable travel is responsible travel that promotes ecotourism and contributes towards the flora and fauna and maintaining the ecological cycle of the earth. Sustainable travel or tourism must be promoted in every state and every city of the country. There are many ways in which we can contribute towards sustainable travel. Some of them are

• SLOW TRAVEL Opting for Train as a mode of travel instead of a flight will help reduce carbon footprint. Greta Thunberg has already set an example for us by traveling in a sailboat on her Atlantic Journey. Slow travel is choosing to travel by foot, e-bike, or e-car and eliminating carbon footprint.
• Choosing group travel plans
• Choosing sustainable accommodation
• Decision of using Energy efficiently and conserving water during your travels.
• Supporting local economies and choosing sustainable activities.
• Say no to littering.
• Do not indulge in buying illegal trade in the name of souvenirs.

Adherence to these will leave a positive impact on nature and the destination. This will encourage protecting the environment and promoting eco-friendly products.

Leaving this planet as a better place to live in is what we all must abide by. Sustainable travel is one such step towards preserving and protecting the planet.
Let’s, all pledge towards it and help build a better world for generations to come.

Been there where the eagles don't dare! In order to make yourself true to this saying, you've to cross Sach Pass.
Sach Pass, a whopping 4400m high mountain pass between Bairagarh in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh and Killar village in the same district. The pass is on the scorchingly beautiful Pir-Panjal range of Himalayas.
The roads leading to Bairagarh is smooth as butter which is surprising cause as the village ends, the road abruptly vanishes and smooth tarmac is replaced by mud, gravel, snow and the most dangerous of all; Black Ice. If you don't know what it is Google it. It is slippery as hell.
So if navigating through this pass is so dangerous and difficult then why am I wiring about it? Thrilling adventures, greenery, deadly cold water transparent as glass crossing the path through a tunnel below the road (again dangerous yet beautiful), blindingly white snow as if they've never encountered any pollution here on earth and air so virgin of impurity that you'd just want to stop to breath in the purity.
The place takes you back to the time when there were far too less traffic, when at night when you looked up you could see the stars, back when you had time and even wanted to see the moon, when everything was not so difficult and complicated. It showed me the raw nature and how bad have we screwed up. It made me think.
I believe I've made my case here. This journey is not for the faint hearted. However once you accomplish it, you wouldn't hesitate to say - "I've been where the eagles don't dare."

The Sky rumbling thump of a motorbike with a rising morning Sun is a sight to cherish for a lifetime. A biker lives and relives this moment every time he sits on his saddle and twists the throttle of his/her motorbike.
The fragrance of morning breeze can be felt best only with an open face helmet. As, one glide steadily on the bends and the curves one feels like a falcon piercing the sky. Adrenaline rush of a biker cannot be described in words ....it can only be experienced.
