The pious Kedarnath Temple is perched at a comfortable elevation of 3553 m and is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. To reach Kedarnath, one has to trek from Gauri Kund, which is about 19 km from Kedarnath. This 19 km trek is through encompasses winding roads and can get quite steep, which can be impossible for elderly people to climb. Note: The opening date and time of Kedarnath Temple are depended on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritya and declared on the Maha Shiva Ratri. The date of the opening of the Kedarnath shrine is decided by priests in Ukhimath’s Omkareshwar Temple after the calculation of Panchang. According to the calculations, the doors of the holy temple will be opened on 17th May 2021 in the morning with special Puja in the temple. The Opening Date of Kedarnath Dham has been declared on Mahashivratri (11 Mar 2021).
