Char dham yatra opening dates

The holy Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand remains open for devotees only for a brief period of six months of the year. The Char Dham Yatra opening date 2022 is from 3rd May 2022.

Every year the temples open from May to November. The opening dates depend upon the auspicious day of Akshaya Tritiya also known as Akha Teej, while the closing dates depend on the festivities of Vijay Dashami, Bhai Dooj, and Diwali. In 2022, the starting date of the Char Dham Yatra was changed and the tentative closing dates of Char Dham Yatra are 20th November 2022. The dates are fixed after considering the Panchang, the Hindu calendar. The dates are usually declared by the Char Dham temple committee along with the Kedar-Badri Mandir Samiti.

The Yamunotri Temple and Gangotri Temple open on the day of Akshaya Tritiya every year followed by the portal opening of Kedarnath Temple and Badrinath Temple after a couple of days. Yamunotri and Kedarnath Dham close on Yama Dwitiya/ Bhai Dooj whereas the Gangotri Dham closes on the day of Diwali. And the closing date of the Badrinath temple decides on the day of Vijaya Dashami.
