* Beginning of Day 3

After Choj we decided on a trek. Kutla, a small village next to Tosh. It’s 4-5 hours of trek. Beautiful, peaceful, amazing nature and less crowded. Perfect spot for our trip.

We got ourselves a few brownies (☘️) and left for Tosh. We reached tosh somewhere around 4 pm and we wanted to have something so one of us suggested having Maggie and coffee before the trek. We all said yes. And we went up to this cute little cafe in tosh. The view from the place was so mesmerising that we decided to be there for a few hours. And while we were there we decided to have those brownies. And somehow we all decided together without even discussing it that we don’t want to go to kutla and stay there.

We had a word with the owner and he said no first. That all the rooms are occupied but there’s just one hall left and we have to share it with someone who’s staying there for the last few weeks.

It took us 0.09657 seconds to say yes. And that's how our last improvisation was a success. We just sat there for hours. Ordering Maggie and coffee and shakes and eggs and close to everything on the menu. We enjoyed the view and trips ☘️ so much that we got in the room somewhere around 4 in the morning (when our body was just dead)

And the next morning we did the same thing all over again till 2-3 in the afternoon when we decided to end the trip and leave for the hectic, busy, always-running Delhi.

•Beginning Of Day 2•

The very next day we went to Parashar Lake (again that 2.5 km maut ka stretch). We sat there for a few hours and had some joint ☘️family fun. But when we finally decided to leave Parashar for Kasol one of us said that he/she forgot an important piece of clothing at the homestay and have to go back there (not giving out the name for security reasons).

After a few gaali galoch and blaming done we got that back and left for Kasol.

Now the thing is that we all have been to Kasol individually and together too. So now everyone had their ideas about staying and cafés there. And Daaaymn every one of us was wrong at different levels but with time comes maturity and with that maturity, we handled it (maybe).

We stayed in Choj, a small village near Kasol. We managed to get some of the finest brownies ☘️ and some of the worst beers in just one night.

But the first stay we saw there was full of Punjabi families ranging from the age of 9 years to 59 years. We opened the gates of a joint ☘️ cafe that was full of neon light and was completely trippy but few kids were dancing there on 5 tarra theeke.

So we got to know that was a joint (not ☘️) family and they booked the whole place except one tent for 4-5 days. After discussing this for half an hour we decided not to take that tent.

But we got one decent nice tent there. With some nice music. But in the night one guy came to us and said “Bhai ek joint bana de yaar. Humne paper Kare hai aur sab out hai” and with that last joint we called it a day.

Once upon a time, there was a group of 5 people in college. But then life happened.
2 of them went to Australia for further studies. .snehi
1 of them moved to Mumbai for his work.
2 of them stayed in Delhi but worked in their respective fields. .96

This travel story is about 4 of them reuniting and taking a trip to Himachal. Because one of them was busy with his work and couldn’t make it (, F**k You).

So we started from Delhi and went to Jalandhar to pick up . We stayed in Jalandhar for a night and left for Kasol the next morning. On the way, when we were feeling nostalgic and talking about our previous trips together, out of nowhere someone suggested Parashar Lake. One of those places Jahan college time main gaye the. Somehow we decided to go to Parashar instead of Kasol (First impromptu decision). So we booked a homestay just to be sure we have a place to stay if we reach there late at night.

We reached Parashar at around 9:00 pm. It was dark and we got to know that the place is still 2.5 km ahead of Parashar. And the road was completely broken, full of keeched, Paani, Pathar. But somehow we managed to reach there (thanks to me, I was driving).

And it was amazing. Secluded. With no one in a homestay but just Us. We were amazed at how shant the place was. We were in our zone (boom boom shiva shiva).

Talked about our past experiences, our lives when we were apart, changes that we experienced, experiences that changed us, situations we were in, and plans that we have in our minds, and suddenly a car came in. Few Proper Punjab de gabbrus came in with their wives and said “Nikalo Veere darru, Aaj Bhand hoke enjoy karenge”.

And like a group of good, gentle and irritated people we went to the storeroom (full of Gadde, Rajjaiya, and Chadrein) instead of our tents (alag alag) and decided to sleep in the storeroom only.

End of Day 1.

Ye kahani meri galtiyon ki hai
Meri rahon ki hai, meri manzilon ki hai.
Jo naa ki hoti galti uss roj to kya hota?
Main Yaha hota? Yaa main waha hota?

So, ye baat hai kuch 2019 ke November ki when me and my friend decided to go to Tungnath, chandrashila and Deorital.
First galti, I thought I’ll be able to ride my mouser (Bullet, 350) that far in one day. And I failed drastically and decided to stay in Srinagar (Yes, Uttarakhand main bhi hai)
Second galti, subh subh mouser jese hi Chopta pahunchi we decided to start the trek without eating anything. Without purchasing any chocolates or candies whatsoever. Raste main behosh hote hote bache.
Raste main we were chanting Tez Tez “Agar chocolate hoti to Bach jate” till someone over heard us and gave us some candies, chocolates, cold drink etc. (Bhagwan Tera Bhalla karega mere unknown BHAI)
Third Galti, next day we trekked up for chandrashila in morning at 3 am. Came back to Tungnath at around 9-10 am and reached Chopta somewhere around 3-4 pm. And we decided to do Deorital on the same day at the same time.
Fourth Galti, while returning to Delhi we thought we’ll stay after Srinagar and after Tehri Dam we got to know there’s no place nearby for stay. At 10 pm someone told us about New Tehri Village that’s a top of a hill somewhere around 24 kms from Tehri and well, our bike broke down in the middle and we were stuck between 12 kms of nothing in front and 12 kms of nothing at back.
If you wanna know what happened next. Share this story and tag the account. I’ll personally send you the rest of the story.

"I was sitting there on the bench at Kashmere Gate. I waited for them to come but no one turned up. All I got was a call to let me know that they cannot make it.

So this happened in 2016 when me and my friends decided to go on this amazing trek to Triund.

That call left me with two options, either I could just go back home and enjoy the warmth in my blanket or to give it a try to travel solo and be optimistic about it.

I chose the later. I took the Himachal roadways ordinary bus, slept at the back seat, enjoyed the bumpy ride for twelve hours and reached this heavenly place alone - Dharmkot.

This incident changed my whole prospective about life. People will come and go. You can’t really hold them because you wanted them stay.

All you can do is to be honest with everyone who comes in your life and set no expectations with them because expectations creates hope. When hope breaks, it breaks into million pieces that you stop trusting people anymore. If they really know you well, they will stay.

I genuine feel It’s not life which is complicated, it’s only us who makes it. Your actions tells a lot about you without saying a single word. Then, what’s the point of those actions if you really didn’t want it. You know it very well what you are doing. You just need to be true to yourself first and understand if this is right.

And I know I know, it’s really easy to say but hard to implement on your own life as it comes because we are all hopeless wanderer in this simple life with complicated people."

"Me and my family are crazy about Kerala for some reason. I think I can blame my dad for this. He did his graduation in Calicut and while living there he had fallen in love with that state! And eventually, made us to fall in love too.

Even though over the years we've been to several places in India but no city or region can take place of this beautiful location in our hearts. And this is coming from a person who has been going to Kerala almost year after year. One can say it has become a strange kind of our family ritual.

There's a place called Fort Kochi (it's a port in Kerala). In that area, there is Chinese Fishing net and beside that, there are several seafood sellers on a footpath. When you reach that place, you can see a small shack. There are tables and chairs and a juice stall with an amazing view of endless Arabian sea.

We usually visit there in the evening time around 4-5pm. At that time, the weather is just awesome there - warm but windy. And we sit there for hours to experience magnificent sunsets.

I find those moments so mesmerising and gratifying. We're sitting in silence or even if anyone of us is speaking, it doesn't matter. Because when you experience mother nature in its all glory, you get this feeling of content which is so hard to explain or put in words."

The flight that changed my life.

"I was living an ordinary life, having ordinary dreams and following a script just like everyone else. I was scared of getting lost in this crowd.

I used to sit behind my best friend’s bike and would often say, "Bhai isi bheed ka hissa na ban ke reh jaye!" And this would happen on any ordinary day at some random red light, just looking at a few random men wearing loosely tucked shirt with a torn bag handing on their right shoulder and the other hand holding the handle above for support.

But I decided to work hard and not be scared of the bus on my left and not be jealous of the Audi on right.

Being from Punjab, you don’t really have plan or an idea doesn't suddenly pops up of going abroad. The thought is always there. You just have to decide whether you are going or not...you know what I mean.

So I decided to go and booked my flight. This is the flight that changed everything. Life was never same after that day.

I still remember every bit of the times when things were a lot easier. The visuals are not blurry but so clear to me.

Short like really short beard with a fresh face and a sky blue fit sweater. Bidding goodbye and trying not to cry. Sometimes, I regret I should have cried...probably that was the last time I could ever cry.

Two years from that day, I have gained a lot on papers. I have a good degree. Have worked really hard. And now making pizzas at Dominos (to be fair, my degree did help me a lot here, so no complaints. I am happy in what I do, not too bad. It's just not following the script and the plan, you know)

I just wish there could be an easy way of learning things than the way I learned.

Now I am jealous of the two boys on that Hero Honda Passion in front of me.

Not everytime you travel is about just going out of your home, experience, learn things and come back."

"None of us kids had seen it and the suspense was building up. We had woken up at 5:30 in the morning for this, so it had better be good.

We were walking on the main road for a few minutes and then started walking towards the shore. We crossed the tree line and voila! There it was. It was as if God had painted the scenery. The sun was rising in the east, giving a great yet subtle sheen to the water. It was a C-curve, with smooth white sanding meeting the deep blue water of the lagoon. It looked like heaven. I was mesmerized for a couple of minutes. It was so beautiful.

When my limbs caught up with my mind, I immediately went into the water in my swim suit. It was cool and comforting.

It was as if everything in the universe had worked together to preserve this place so that I could be there in that moment.

There was a small piece of land just at the end of the curve. It wasnt connected to the mainland. It meant we had to swim to get there. Me and my cousin took up the challenge and decided to swim there.

With the scary seaweed sticking to our feet, startling us in the middle of our swim, and the deep water providing no way for us to stop midway, we huffed and puffed and swam all the way to that small piece of land. When I stood on the land and looked towards the mighty sea, I felt like Robinson Crusoe. Without all the hardship though.

I still remember those waters. I still remember the sun, the wind, the water and the land all coming together to make that moment one of the most precious moments of my life."

"The transition from 2018 to 2019 was upon us. It was the time for a new year to begin. It was a time for celebration.

To enjoy our new years, my family had planned a trip to Singapore. It's a city that was built for tourism. The air is full of excitement. We were staying on the island of Sentosa, just outside of Singapore. With the sea to our backs and the main city in front, it was an ideal location to spend time with loved ones.

The hotel we stayed at was great as it offered a ton of activities for kids like us to do, so that adults can go and explore the island on their own.

On one such glorious excursion, my mom and aunt found a place right behind the hotel. They claimed to have found a lagoon, which was right at the edge of the sea and surrounded by beach on three sides. My mom told me it was a great place to have a swim. I didn't need to hear anything else. I loved to swim, especially when it was so near to the sea. We made plans to see this place early next morning.

The next day, I woke up full of joyful energy. I wa ready to go and stretch my limbs in the cool morning waters. All of us (My mom, aunt, younger brother and cousin) met in the lobby and started to walk towards the lagoon."

But we continued the journey in the heavy rain. We stopped at few beaches on the way. The water level was crazy.

We somehow reached Kumarakom and the owner was surprised to see us because they never expected us to come in this weather. He praised us for our guts and welcomed us.

The owner was in his 60s. He talked to us in the morning about flood, weather, politics and many more things. He told us about his own museum which was closed due to flood. He was so happy with us that he gave us a personal tour of the museum before leaving.

We rode another 80Kms back to Alleppey to return the bike. Our bus almost got cancelled and we had to catch our bus from Kochi. It was a trip full of surprises and unexpected events but this could be categorised as one of my best trips.

I'm still waiting to go back for the boat race and will probably do that this year (🤞). But this experience was something we could never forget. We now truly believe that in the end, everything's going to be okay.

PS: I know this may sound stupid to few people so please take risks according to your risk appetite.”

“Ye story hai August 2019 ki, when we decided to go on a trip to Alleppey, Kerala. Every year, on the second saturday of August, the Nehru boat race get organised and massive crowd gathers to see the race.

Main is samay ka 2 saal se besabri se intezar kar rahi thi. We booked our tickets and accommodation and get ready to leave. 1 hour before the bus, we got to know that there is a flood in Kerala but we were so excited for this trip that we never even bothered about it. We reached Kerala next morning and checked into our stay. We kept our luggage in the stay, rented a bike and started exploring the village area and then went to the beach.

As soon as we come back, we got to know that there is a very high probability of the flood in that area and the boat race has been cancelled. We were very disappointed but we had to make something out of this trip so we decided to explore the areas and villages around Alleppey. We couldn't find places to eat because everything was closed due to the flood warning.

We found a cafe called Avacado. The owner was kind enough to let us sit in there and have some drinks. Even though the cafe was closed due to the weather, they prepared food for us. We had our lunch and dinner for 3 days at the same place. We had planned to explore a nearby place called Kumarakom the next day. The cafe owner asked us to stay at their place in case we decide not to go to kumarakom. But we were resistant and we decided to go as per the plan.

We took the bike and started riding towards Kumarakom which was around 80KMs. The rain was heavy, we couldn't see people out on the roads. Now we were s**t scared.”

“Trekking! My favourite thing to do in this whole wide world. I found my passion for trekking 4 years ago and my first surreal trekking experience was at Grahan Village.

When I was climbing the mountains slipping on the steep rocks, it felt like a difficult & never-ending task but once reached the summit all the struggles felt like it was worth every fall.

Trekking reminds me of the golden gift called LIFE that we have been gifted. Life - an unexpected, non-uniform, wavy, steep, and difficult like the mountains that can feel impossible to climb. Life can be tough and it can bruise you while you try to grow from the negativity and things that hold you back. You might even feel breathless at times, hoping for some air to reach your lungs.

All the struggles and steep roads of the mountains remind me of the commencement speech of Oprah Winfrey at the Harvard University, where she stated that "It doesn't matter how far you might rise. At some point, you will stumble."

It's the real truth of life that no matter how hard you try you are bound to stumble & fall. But you are also bound to make your way back and reach the highest summit of your life. You might feel like quitting but you know that your destination is calling for you in its heart and you cannot stop. You can take a little break, pause for a moment, breathe, but you know you won't quit until you kill all the demons in your head. You can touch that summit in life & while trekking, as you are limitless.”

“*5 Saal ka KaamVas!*

Life can be crazy and mine has been craziest! I am a workhorse. Me being away from my work means anxiety hugging me like a चिपकू चमन... And because of this committed love relationship of me and my work, I was unable to take a break for
5 LONGGG YEARS!!!

But...but...but....
Perks of my profession allowed me to fly to new cities (not bad, right?)

So finally after 5 long years, my Maa gifted me a जन्मदिन trip to New Zealand. These pictures that you see above are of those places that not only gave me goosebumps but also they made me feel ALIVE. These places made me realize and question my EXISTENCE, and believe me or not, it got tears in my eyes...

I was looking around the country like a human who might have just recieved a new pair of eyes. मगर एक बात और realise हुई;

Ever since that trip I decided to travel more oftenly for 3 major reasons:-
1- to see Moon from every city, because i have inevitable love for Moon.
2- आसमान... every city has its own color palette and its beautiful shape of clouds.
3- Tradition and Culture.

Also, one important lesson that I learnt was - go to the most exquisite and beautiful place in the world, but if you are not peaceful in the inside, you will never find happiness. I hope you live every moment while you wander.

Before signing off, कोरोना को lightly मत लो..

“As strange as it may sound to some people, Jim Corbett was the last place I travelled before this virus took over the world and it became the first place I took a trip to after we, as a whole world, unanimously decided to live in this new hand sanitiser, mask and 2 meter wala normal. :l

O boy! Dare I say things were that perfect! But the least I can say that there has been a shift you know...in people's behavior. I could definitely see the difference when I look back and compare the travelling.

Nevertheless, the trip was fantastic for me. I spent best times with the people I love and who are very dear to me. It felt special spending time with them after a gap of WHOLE YEAR! Those moments felt so precious to me that I almost didn't want to come back home. Ek realization toh hui ki for granted nahi lena yaar ab... kab dobara kitne time tak band ho jaye kuch nahi pata.

The trip was such a breather for my mental health as well. After spending an year at home, dealing with things and making my way out of it, the trip really helped to me relax. The peace I got from the trip was out of the world. From driving for the first time for like 600 kms was something special to me! Tiring, but special.

But the most special part is ki zindagi ki har pareshani choti lagti hai jab aapke dost aapke sath ho ❤️

This one is for those precious people I have!!!!”

“Serenity, peace, perspective, these are not words associated with the party town of our country. I gave you the biggest hint there, you'd have probably guessed which place I am talking about - Goa. But these odd words were what we wanted to find in this amazing place where lakhs of travellers all over the world visit every year.

(i) Imagine the history of a rock and imagine sitting on it. Feeling the water on your legs, the sea is wonderful, the seashells far more significant. Where the waves collide, how long did they travel, those are thoughts that engulf you when one finds oneself in the sea. It was a trip of a lifetime and we did find the serenity, the perspective we were looking for.

(ii) The trees are magnificent. In the breeze which flows and hits you cold at the back of your neck, these trees feel them in a way one can't imagine.

(iii) View. Of loneliness, of solitude, of vastness of the ocean. There's no better place to find it than Goa. We found ourselves living in tents on palolem beach, with a view of sunset gazing our souls every day, sunrise I can't even tell you about that, we certainly didn't wake up for it.

(iv) We went for a hike to butterfly beach, it was an hour longer, plenty of water is recommended but the offbreak jungle paths remind you of the path not taken, let you think of people who'd be there before us. That's the serenity you won't find anywhere else in Goa. “
