TEMI TEA GARDEN ll

If you visit South Sikkim and not Temi Tea Garden, your visit will not be complete. This is the only tea garden in Sikkim, you will be mesmerized by its appearance and view. SANGSEY ।।

Sangsey is a small hill hamlet surrounded by green hills, situated near to Kalimpong. Sangsey Khasmahal is an unique creation of nature surrounded by Delo hills inside Neora Valley National Park. For those who are tired of daily monotonous work in brick-wood-stone jungle, it is a true "escape from reality" in the words of TS Eliot. This hidden location in the thick green nature can be an ideal destination to relieve the boredom of your monotonous life. On a two-day holiday, those who are looking for an offbeat mountain getaway can come to Sangsey. Kanchenjunga can be seen from the balcony itself. All in all, nature will welcome you with all its splendor. This small village is very sparsely populated, with not many home or homestays. But hospitality here is excellent. You will feel the presence of Kanchenjunga just by sitting on the terrace of this homestay. Sitting here with loved ones and watching the clouds play in the sky can pass a few days. RALONG ।।

Ralong a small hamlet situated only 7 km away from Ravangla, is a small holy village on the way to Borang via Mainam. Ralong is originally known for the Ralong Monastery. New Ralong Monastery is dazzlingly beautiful. Many have gone to Rumtek Monastery and consider as one of the best monasteries in Sikkim. Surprised to see, we can tell them that this monastery is no less beautiful in size. Also Ralong's Hot Water Spring is quite famous. In the local language it is called 'cha-chu'. However, the quiet and secluded nature of Ralong is the main USP here. Ralong is a safe haven for those who want to realize the nature of the mindless. The view of Mount Nursing from Ralong is amazing, you can touch this snow-capped mountain range from homestay. This is the abode of various birds. You can see Mount Nursing or any unknown bird by name sitting on the veranda of the homestay. The mountainous hospitality within the limited resources will fascinate you. However, this is not the place for those who look for a luxurious stay or market nearby.

There are lots of places to visit from Ralong. Places like Temi Tea Garden, Namchi Chardham, Sampadrupase Monastery, Ravangla Buddha Park etc. can be visited day by day. Also a must see is Borong's Hot Water Spring, Borong Monastery, Paper Factory, Titanic View Point etc. and Ralong Monastery is on the must visit list. Apart from this, people who like to trek can also trek to Mainam through jungle and mountain roads.

RINCHENPONG ।।

Rinchenpong, a small hilltown of West Sikkim, will be at the forefront of the places of Sikkim, from where the Kanchenjunga can be touched by hand. At 5576 feet, this hill station is now quite famous for its natural beauty and the view of kanchenjunga from here. Rinchenpong and Kaluk are the two villages of West Sikkim, where a huge number of travelers comes throughout the year. Not only it has natural beauty, Rinchenpong is also historically quite important. However there are many travelers who want to see Kanchenjunga enchantedly, once they visit Sikkim, there can be no better place for them than Rinchenpong. It's like " Coffee with Kanchenjunga" from dawn to dusk. The scenic beauty is heavenly, while you sit in our homestay with a hot cup of tea or coffee in your hand. When the lights come on in the distant mountains at night, it seems that an unknown fairy lit that light, on the night of diwali only for you. If you stay here for two days, definitely you will be lost in the new abode of peace, from where you can feel Kanchenjunga with closed eyes. There is a small farm on the lower slope of the homestay, where you can see Orange gardens and even himalayan sheep grazing there.

There are many places to hangout near Rinchenpong. Within 3km distance, you can visit Kaluk. You can also visit Pelling, Pemayangtse Monastery, Kanchenjunga waterfalls, Rimbi Waterfalls, Darap Village, Changey Waterfalls, Singshore Bridge, Khecheopalri lake and Rabdentse Ruins from here. Rabdentse Ruins, you will really like this place, as it was the 16th former capital of Sikkim and now lies in ruins. This ruins offer a superb view of the Kanchenjunga. One of the most popular destination for tourists near Pelling is the Skywalk, now a days. The 137 feet tall statue of Chenjezig, worth visiting. Apart from these, you can also visit Chayatal Lake, Sirijunga Temple, Hee water garden from here. There are two monastery of 18th century is located here in Rinchenpong- Gurung Monastery (6250 ft.) and Risham Monastery (6300 ft.). Risham monastery offers and excellent view of the snowcapped mountains, specially the sunrise behind the Kanchenjunga is breathtaking. There is an another place famous in Rinchenpong is the Poison lake, local calls it Bikh-pokhri. It is said that, this lake is haunted. In 18th century, some british officials came to Rinchenpong and they are very tyrant. So the local tribe- lepchas poisoned the lake water which they used for drinking purpose. And lots of soldier died. There are so many places for visit near Rinchenpong. So it is better to come here with atleast two-days time in hand.

Distance of Rinchenpong from NJP is near about 127km and it takes approximate 4.5 to 5 hours to reach here from NJP by car. According to the size of the car, car charges are Rs . 5,000/- ( Approx)

RANAGAON ।।

Ranagaon, 27 km from Darjeeling town, very close to Lamahatta is an unheard of name, is still a true offbeat. Mainly Bhutia, Sherpa, Yalmos, Tamang, Dukpa people live here. Cultivation and animal husbandry are their livelihood. Crooked path - pine forest - call of mountain birds - small wooden house - small village Ranagaon is familiar with mountain smell of burning wood in the evening. As it is still not known as such, so there will be no crowd. There will be no shortage of hospitality in our little cottages in the lap of nature away from the noise of market-cars. There will be no shortage of peace, silence and proximity to nature. Kanchenjunga in the blue sky and the smell of coffee and mountains, what more one could want. But this village is not for everyone. Ranagaon is absolutely secluded. It is a bit of a walk from the parking, end roads are a bit rough too. Most important thing is nothing special can be found here without the nature. But nature has poured itself here. There is also a small water falls near the homestay. Moreover, if you want, you can do village walk, jungle trail, farming in leisure.
Road side garden has been created in Lamahatta without destroying the ecological balance and biodiversity of nature, you can see different species of orchids here. Sitting next to a loved one under the shade of a pine tree to savor the beauty of such a beautiful garden in the mountains,.

Nearby attractions:
As already mentioned Roadside Garden or Lamahatta Park also a small path leads from Lamahatta to Hilltop where you will see a small lake. The lake is sacred to the locals. Another pine-lined route is an 8km trek from Lamahatta to Takda. Besides, Takda Orchid Center and Garidanda Fort can also be visited in a day. Tea estates such as Glenburn Tea Estate, Rongli Rangliot Tea Estate, Lopchu, Peshak Tea Estate etc. are also worth visiting near Lamahatta. Just 8 km from Lamahatta is Peshak View Point from where you can see the confluence of Teesta and Ranggeet known as Triveni. In short, its beauty is extraordinary. Also visit the Cave Temple and Lamahatta Monastery.

Distance from New Jalpaiguri is 74 km, travel time takes three to three and a half hours.
Car fare from New Jalpaiguri is approx Rs.4000-4500/- till homestay oneway.

KEWZING ।।

Kewzing, a tranquil village in South Sikkim, situated some 7 kms away from Ravangla enroute Pelling, to the Himalayan travellers. Kewzing, though characteristically not very different from other hamlets with magnificent view of the Himalayan peaks, has something very unique to offer to the travellers - a picturesque homestay. Mungpoo ।।

Mungpoo, situated at an altitude of 4,000 feet at Kurseong sub-division, is mainly known for the cultivation of cinchona. But to the Bengalis, the village conveys an emotion like a picture painted on this hilly little canvas. Rabindranath Tagore is the name of the emotion. Mungpoo has therefore a bright presence on the travel map of the Bengalis. The hills on one side and Rabindranath's memory on the other side make the green-filled Mungpoo even more beautiful. The village is disarmingly calm. At first glance, the village is a patchwork of tea plantations and kaleidoscopic orchid and cinchona gardens. After a close observation, one realizes that the area is a typical small village, with the artist's touch as if spread in color. An hour and a half away from Darjeeling, Mungpoo was the intensive abode of literary works of Rabindranath Tagore. You can also come to this small place of green nature to escape from the busy daily life. Homestays offer home-cooked meals and warm hospitality. The best time to visit Mungpoo is during monsoon. Nature takes on a magical form in the play of green and clouds.

From here one can easily visit places like Darjeeling, Tukdah, Tinchuley, Lopchu, Peshok, Rangli-Rangliot. The entire area is surrounded by green tea plantations and pines running along the hill steps. The Rabindra Museum in Mangpoo is one of the most popular destinations. Moreover, Sikkim Forest, Orchid Garden, Kiwi Garden, Serel Bungalow, Sitong, Ahaldarah, Shelfu Hills, Namthing Pokhri Lake can all be visited from here in a day's outing. Besides, those who love to trek can trek to Rambikhola Water Falls and Log Bridge. During the monsoons, the movement of mountain birds increases and many people visit the Sinchal and Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuaries in the region for birding.
