If you are planning to travel there in the near future, then save this post to keep all my tips for visiting the Rampuria Haveli handy:

1. Rampuria Haveli (pictured house) is a cluster of 7 mansions that are all located next to each other. Even though it is a very small area to cover, you may spend quite a while there taking all the magnificence in.

2. Even though the havelis are the main attraction, don’t forget to notice all the pretty doors too. You will find blue, brown, yellow, orange & wood coloured doors here!

3. Once done seeing the Rampuria Havelis, you can also stroll around the neighbourhood to find some other ones. This area is said to be home to 1000s of these mansions, out of which only a few hundreds are left today.

4. There is a very beautiful Jain mandir that is also nearby. You can do a walking or an auto rickshaw tour & see all the sights in one outing!

5. If you are planning to use tripods, then keep an eye on it as there were a lot of cows around here.

Mehrangarh Fort covers an area of 1,200 acres in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. The complex islocated on a hilltop around 122 meters above the
surrounding plain and was constructed in 1459 by Rajput ruler Rao Jodha.

For the Rathore dynasty, Sun was the most superior of all Gods, Hence, they named the fort Mehrangarh, a name which was derived from two
words: 'Mihir, which stands for Sun, and 'Garh implicating Fort. The locals gradually began to call Mehar-garh as Mehrangarh in their local accent,
hence the name.

📍 Mehrangarh fort ( jodhpur)



Mehrangarh Fort covers an area of 1,200 acres (486 hectares) in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The complex is located on a hilltop around 122 metres above the surrounding plain,[1] and was constructed circa 1459 by Rajput ruler Rao Jodha. Inside its boundaries there are several palaces known for their intricate carvings and expansive courtyards, as well as a museum housing various relics. A winding road leads to and from the city below. The imprints of the impact of cannonballs fired by attacking armies of Jaipur can still be seen on the second gate. To the left of the fort is the chhatri of Kirat Singh Soda, a soldier who fell on the spot defending Mehrangarh. There are seven gates, which include Jayapol (meaning 'victory gate'), built by Maharaja Man Singh to commemorate his victories over Jaipur and Bikaner armies. There is also a Fattehpol (also meaning 'victory gate'), which commemorates Maharaja Ajit Singh Ji’s victory over Mughals.

Some of the notable festivals taking place here include the World Sacred Spirit Festival and Rajasthan International Folk Festival

Historically, most of the houses in old city of Jodhpur were painted blue. As you can see here, over the years, the owners have repainted it in other
colors.
However there are conflicting theories why the houses were painted blue in those days!
-Brahmins (priestly caste) painted their homes blue to differentiate their homes from other communities.
-the color blue kept the houses cool in harsh summer months and hence they were painted blue.

Built in 1754 by Shauja-ud-Daula, the Nawab of Awadh, to house the remains of his father Safdarjung, who was a powerful minister in the Mughal court during the reign of Muhammad Shah, the tomb is referred to as the “last flicker in the lamp of Mughal architecture.“ Built in red sandstone and buff stone, the monument shows how the grace and grandeur of the Mughals had been overtaken by decadence. The City Palace in Jaipur is an exquisite maharaja’s palace. In an inner courtyard called Pritam Niwas Chowk, there are four doorways in the walls. Each of these doors is unique in its design and decoration, and beautiful to behold. The four doors represent the seasons and different Hindu gods.

The Green Gate, representing Spring, is dedicated to Lord Ganesha.

The Rose Gate represents winter and is dedicated to the goddess Devi.

The Peacock gate is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and represents autumn.

The Southwest Lotus Gate, dedicated to Shiva and Parvati, represents the summer season.

2. This street with the havelis gets really busy with two way traffic after 9-9:30am, so it is best to arrive here for sunrise. I visited at both 6:30am and 10am, and the difference was crazy. 🤯

📍Amer Palace
Located high on a hill, it is the principal tourist attraction in Jaipur. Amer Fort is known for its artistic style elements. With its large ramparts and series of gates and cobbled paths, the fort overlooks Maota Lake, which is the main source of water for the Amer Palace.

📍Albert Hall Museum

The Albert Hall Museum in Jaipur is the oldest museum of the state and functions as the state museum of Rajasthan, India. The building is situated in Ram Niwas garden outside the city wall opposite New gate and is a fine example of Indo-Saracenic architecture.
