As we begin to emerge from the restrictions of the pandemic, our team of guides are back in the field doing what they do best. In Kerala, Sudeesh has kept himself busy with various ventures over the past eighteen months but is delighted to be out leading birding tours and scouting new areas. His recent sightings from his local area, Thattekad and Munnar, include some of the most sought-after specialities of these forests. We hope to be able to share these with you on tour in the not too distant future www.indianaturetours.com/the-western-ghats

So very sad to hear that such a fantastic event is no more. We have been an exhibitor at since 2000, each year looking forward to meeting friends old and new from across the globe. Big thanks to all involved in keeping it running for so many years - it will be sorely missed.

After careful consideration, Leicestershire and Rutland Wildlife Trust have made the difficult decision to stop running Birdfair.

The effects of the global pandemic have had a significant effect on our daily operations as a charity and Birdfair operations have contributed to these financial concerns. Other worries including the carbon footprint generated by the event and the longer-term impact it has on Rutland Water Nature Reserve itself, have all led to our decision.

We are sad to end our involvement with Birdfair after more than 30 years. Along with working with our co-promoter, the RSPB, we have brought thousands of visitors to Rutland Water Nature Reserve and raised more than £5 million for overseas projects run via the Birdlife International group of charities. We are immensely proud of this achievement for global wildlife conservation.

We must now turn all of our efforts to our core mission of saving, restoring, and connecting people with wildlife and habitats across Leicestershire and Rutland.

We would like to thank all who have supported or been involved with Birdfair over the years, including our partners, sponsors, exhibitors, contractors, presenters, volunteers, members and staff. The event could not have existed without their dedication.

Velavadar National Park, in the western state of Gujarat - here, the final few days of our ongoing tour couldn't have been any better, with good sightings of an array of mammals, including Indian Wolf, Striped Hyaena, Jungle Cat and numerous Blackbuck in one safari, not to mention a selection of the expected bird sp.

You may not automatically associate lions with India, but in the state of Gujarat and neighbouring Diu, 650+ Asiatic Lions (officially 523 at last census) can be found in the forests of Sasan Gir and surrounding areas. Today our group had the privilege of a close encounter with two magnificent females, on safaris with Lokesh Kumar.
