Delhi Airport Implements Flight Restrictions on August 15 for Security Measures
Delhi airport announces flight restrictions for non-scheduled flights on August 15, during select morning and evening hours. Exceptions for state-owned aircraft, quick response missions, and medical evacuations. Travelers advised to plan ahead and utilize the 'DigiYatra' facility for contactless travel.

In anticipation of the forthcoming Independence Day celebrations, the Delhi airport authorities have announced temporary flight restrictions for non-scheduled flights on August 15.

These measures are part of enhanced security protocols and ongoing infrastructure upgrades.

As per official sources from the Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) under the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the restrictions are designed to ensure safety and smooth operations during this significant national event.

Morning and Evening Flight Restrictions
According to the issued Notice to Airmen (NOTAM), non-scheduled flights of both scheduled airlines and chartered services will be prohibited from landing or taking off during specific hours. The restricted time slots are from 6 am to 10 am and from 4 pm to 7 pm on August 15.

This temporary restriction will not affect scheduled flights, including those of the Indian Air Force (IAF), Border Security Force (BSF), and Army Aviation helicopters, ensuring continued essential operations.

Exemptions and Special Permissions
Certain exceptions to the flight restrictions have been granted. State-owned aircraft or helicopters carrying the governor or chief minister of a state will be allowed to fly during the designated hours.

Additionally, flights engaged in quick response missions and immediate medical evacuation will also be permitted, as highlighted by an official statement from the airport authorities.

Plan Ahead and Utilize DigiYatra for Smooth Transits
Passengers are advised to factor in extended formalities and enhanced security measures at the Delhi airport premises due to the ongoing infrastructure upgrades and Independence Day security arrangements.

To expedite the boarding process and ensure a contactless experience, travellers can make use of the ‘DigiYatra’ facility. This service provides faster mobility to boarding gates, enhanced security, and dedicated gates, ultimately saving valuable travel time.

The DigiYatra facility is currently available at all departure gates of Terminals 3 and 2 at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.

Nationwide Advisory for Major Airports
In solidarity with the heightened security measures, other major airports across the country, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai, have issued advisories to passengers. The collective aim is to avoid crowding and ensure seamless passenger movement.

Travellers are strongly encouraged to arrive well in advance to accommodate the necessary check-in and security procedures.

The authorities of each airport have urged cooperation from visitors and passengers to ensure a secure and smooth travel experience during this crucial period.

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport issued a humble plea, “We kindly request all visitors to cooperate and avoid crowding, facilitating seamless passenger movement due to the additional security measures and high-security alert for Independence Day.”

Chennai Airport conveyed a similar message, stating, “Early is on time, On time is late! From 10.08.2023 to 20.08.2023, will be under high-security alert for Independence Day. We request all our valued passengers to arrive early at the airport to ensure smooth and seamless transit.”

For real-time updates on flight-related information, passengers are advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines. Planning ahead and adhering to the provided guidance will contribute to a safe and efficient travel experience for all during this significant national occasion.

Goa: Mopa Airport Now Accepting E-Visas for International Arrivals
n a surprising reversal of its earlier decision, Manohar International Airport, also known as Mopa Airport, is now extending a warm welcome to first-time E-VISA users. This change comes as a relief for international travelers and the tourism industry.

Manohar International Airport (MIA) in Goa has announced that it will now be accepting e-visas for international tourists. This comes after a previous announcement that the airport would not be offering the e-visa service, which had caused some confusion and concern among tourists and travel agents.

e-Visa Access Started at Mopa Airport
The change in policy is welcome news for the tourism industry in Goa, which is a popular tourist destination for people from all over the world. The e-visa is a convenient and easy way to obtain a visa for India, and its availability at MIA will make it easier for tourists to visit Goa.

The announcement, “Attention, first-time E-VISA users! We’re thrilled to announce that Manohar International Airport is now accepting E-VISA. If this is your first time landing at GOX, make your way to the immigration,” comes just in time for the upcoming tourism season, providing a sigh of relief to international travellers and the tourism industry alike.

The e-visa service will be available for all eligible countries. Tourists can apply for an e-visa online through the Indian government’s website. Once their visa is approved, they will be able to print it out and present it at the airport upon arrival.

Previous Policy Caused Confusion and Concern
The previous policy of not accepting e-visas at MIA had caused some confusion and concern among tourists and travel agents. In the months leading up to the announcement of the new policy, there were reports of tourists being denied entry to India after arriving at MIA with an e-visa.

The confusion was understandable, as the Indian government’s website had previously listed MIA as one of the airports that accept e-visas. However, the airport had not been officially designated as an e-visa airport, and immigration officials were not properly trained on the e-visa process.

E-VISA Service for First-Time Users
However, the airport’s management has heeded the concerns and feedback from various stakeholders, ultimately leading to the decision to reinstate the E-VISA service for first-time users at Mopa Airport.

The recent statement from the airport management emphasizes the value placed on international travellers’ cooperation and convenience.

Smooth Immigration Process for E-VISA Holders
Travellers arriving at Mopa Airport with a valid E-VISA will be able to proceed through immigration without any issues. The reintegration of E-VISA services at Mopa Airport is expected to alleviate the concerns that arose from the earlier decision and contribute to a smoother travel process for incoming international tourists.

Positive Industry Response
This change has been well-received by the tourism industry, which heavily relies on a steady influx of international visitors during the peak season. Stakeholders have expressed their appreciation for the airport management’s responsiveness and willingness to adapt to the needs of travellers.

Operational Readiness for the Tourism Season
As the tourism season approaches, all eyes will be on Manohar International Airport’s operational efficiency and ability to handle the anticipated increase in traveller traffic. With the resumption of E-VISA services for first-time users, Mopa Airport is taking a step in the right direction to ensure a positive and welcoming experience for tourists arriving in Goa.

17/08/2023

India's domestic air passenger traffic witnessed a significant 25% year-on-year increase in July, according to data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). Market leaders IndiGo and Air India maintained their positions, while emerging carriers like Vistara and Akasa Air made notable strides.

The latest data released by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) reveals a substantial increase of 25% in India’s domestic air passenger traffic volume for the month of July.

As per the data, a total of 1.21 crore passengers were flown during this period, compared to 97.05 lakh passengers in July 2022.

IndiGo Dominates Market Share
Leading the market share during the reporting month, no-frills carrier IndiGo carried an impressive 76.75 lakh passengers, securing a dominant share of 63.4%. This accomplishment further solidifies IndiGo’s position as a frontrunner in the Indian aviation industry.

Air India Trails Behind
The Tata Group-owned Air India emerged as the second-highest carrier in terms of passenger volume, with a total of 11.98 lakh passengers flown in July.

Despite its standing, Air India held a market share of 9.9% for the month, indicating a considerable gap between the top two competitors.

Vistara’s Performance and Market Share
Vistara, a prominent joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, contributed significantly to the aviation landscape by transporting 10.20 lakh passengers on domestic routes during the previous month.

Holding a market share of 8.4%, Vistara’s performance adds a noteworthy dimension to the competitive field.

AirAsia India’s Transformation
Air India’s subsidiary, AirAsia India, which has undergone a transformation and is now recognized as AIX Connect, witnessed a passenger volume of 9.01 lakh on intra-country routes.

This translated to a 7.5% share of the total traffic for the reporting month, indicating a successful transition and adaptation to changing market dynamics.

Akasa Air’s Remarkable Milestone
Celebrating its one-year anniversary on the 7th of this month, Akasa Air continued to soar, outperforming established carrier SpiceJet.

In July, Akasa Air transported an impressive 6.24 lakh passengers, garnering a market share of 5.2%, showcasing its growing influence within the industry.

SpiceJet’s Struggles and Load Factor
Despite its historical prominence, SpiceJet faced challenges in July, transporting 5.04 lakh passengers and holding a market share of 4.2%.

However, the Gurugram-based airline managed to deliver the highest load factor at 88.9% for the month, signalling operational efficiency despite market pressures.

On-Time Performance and Efficiency
IndiGo once again exhibited its operational excellence, achieving the highest on-time performance for July.

With an average of 86.8% of flights departing or arriving on time at key airports such as Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, IndiGo’s commitment to punctuality remains a noteworthy aspect of its service.

Final Words
The recent DGCA data showcases a dynamic landscape in India’s domestic aviation sector, with carriers vying for market share and operational excellence amid evolving challenges. As the industry continues to adapt, these figures provide valuable insights into the competitive and evolving nature of air travel within the nation.

As a responsible traveller, it is important to be aware of the places to avoid during the monsoon season to ensure your safety and well-being. From regions experiencing devastating floods to areas prone to landslides below is the list of places you must avoid visiting this Monsoon.

1. Assam
A warning has been issued for the state of Assam due to the possibility of flooding. Travellers are strongly advised to cancel their plans for now, as several districts are at risk. Authorities are implementing preventive measures to mitigate flood-related hazards.

2. Delhi
While Delhi is usually a bustling tourist hotspot, it is currently experiencing flood-like situations, primarily caused by the Yamuna River surpassing the danger mark. Consequently, it is recommended to exclude Delhi from your travel plans until the situation improves.

3. Kullu
Due to the devastating impact of the monsoon, travel to Kullu and the surrounding region is strongly discouraged. Important roadways have been washed away, resulting in disrupted connectivity. Efforts are underway to restore accessibility, and tourists stranded in the area have been evacuated.

4. Manali
Manali has witnessed significant destruction in recent weeks, and the situation remains challenging despite ongoing disaster management efforts. Although the water level has subsided, it is advisable to avoid this popular tourist destination until authorities declare it safe for visitation.

5. Meghalaya
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted heavy rainfall in various parts of Meghalaya. To ensure safety, it is advisable to postpone any travel plans to this beautiful hill state until the situation stabilizes, despite its allure during the monsoon season.

6. Parvati Valley
Himachal Pradesh’s Parvati Valley has suffered extensive damage due to heavy rains, making it imperative to postpone any travel plans until authorities deem it safe. Tourists have already been evacuated from regions like Kasol. Travellers are urged to comply with the official advisory.

7. Sainj Valley

8. Uttarakhand
Heavy rains have been lashing Uttarakhand, leading to the suspension of travel plans recommended by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The renowned Char Dham Yatra pilgrimage has been halted temporarily due to landslides. Additionally, water sports activities, including rafting in Rishikesh, have been cancelled for the time being.

Tips for Monsoon Travel

1. Stay updated: Monitor weather forecasts and official advisories before and during your trip to stay informed about any potential risks or warnings in your chosen destination.

2. Choose safe accommodation: Prioritize staying in hotels or accommodations that have proper infrastructure and safety measures in place to withstand heavy rainfall and other monsoon-related challenges.

3. Avoid waterlogged areas: Steer clear of flooded streets and waterlogged areas as they pose risks such as accidents, diseases, and unexpected currents.

4. Use reliable transportation: Opt for trusted transportation services that prioritize safety during the monsoon season. Avoid travelling through areas prone to landslides or those with compromised road conditions.

5. Pack essential items: Carry appropriate rain gear, including umbrellas, raincoats, waterproof bags, and sturdy footwear. Also, pack insect repellents, necessary medications, and a first aid kit.

6. Maintain caution near water bodies: Exercise extreme caution near rivers, lakes, and waterfalls as water levels can rise rapidly during heavy rainfall. Avoid risky activities such as swimming or venturing close to fast-flowing water.

7. Respect local guidance: Follow the instructions provided by local authorities and respect any travel restrictions or warnings issued during the monsoon season.

Conclusion
While the monsoon season in India presents a unique charm, it is crucial to prioritize safety and exercise caution when planning your travel. As highlighted in this article, certain regions should be avoided due to the adverse effects of heavy rainfall.

Discover the latest advancement in air travel as the Digi Yatra facility prepares to extend its cutting-edge services to six additional airports, including Mumbai and Kochi. Using state-of-the-art Facial Recognition Technology, passengers enjoy a secure and convenient journey while their data remains confidential.

In a decisive move aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and bolstering airport security, the government has unveiled its ambitious plan to extend the highly acclaimed DigiYatra facility.

The expansion, slated for August 2023, will see the introduction of this groundbreaking initiative at six major airports, including the bustling hubs of Mumbai and Kochi.

Seamless Travel Experience
With its innovative use of Facial Recognition Technology (FRT), the DigiYatra program promises to redefine the way passengers navigate airport checkpoints. This state-of-the-art technology ensures a seamless, contactless experience, streamlining the journey from arrival to departure.

As of August 10, a remarkable 3.46 million passengers have already reaped the benefits of this revolutionary system, reinforcing its efficacy and popularity.

Phased Rollout at New Airports
The Ministry of Civil Aviation has laid out a strategic roadmap for the expansion of the DigiYatra facility. The deployment of the advanced infrastructure at the six new airports—

Mumbai
Ahmedabad
Kochi
Lucknow
Jaipur, and
Guwahati
…will follow a meticulous phased approach.

This carefully planned strategy aims to seamlessly integrate the technology into existing airport operations, minimizing any potential disruptions and ensuring a flawless passenger experience.

DigiYatra’s Commitment to Passenger Data Privacy
Central to the DigiYatra program is its unwavering commitment to passenger data security and privacy. Utilizing a robust encryption system, the initiative safeguards sensitive passenger information.

The data remains exclusively between the traveller and the departure airport, ensuring that it is neither stored centrally nor accessible beyond its designated usage. This stringent privacy protocol underscores the program’s dedication to protecting passenger data.

Passenger Information Purged within 24 Hours
To further enhance data security, the DigiYatra system boasts a rigorous data erasure protocol. All passenger data stored within the airport’s system is automatically purged within 24 hours of the flight’s departure.

This proactive measure ensures that personal information is promptly and irreversibly removed, maintaining the highest standards of data protection.

From Inception to Expansion: DigiYatra’s Evolution
Having initially launched on December 1, 2022, at key airports including Delhi, Varanasi, and Bengaluru, the DigiYatra initiative has already left an indelible mark on the travel landscape.

With its imminent expansion to prominent airports like Mumbai and Kochi, DigiYatra is set to revolutionize air travel, elevating passenger experiences to unprecedented levels of efficiency, security, and comfort.

Additionally, flights engaged in quick response missions and immediate medical evacuation will also be permitted, as highlighted by an official statement from the airport authorities.
