The Valley of Flowers. ❤️
Back in 1931, a group of British mountaineers, returning from an expedition to Mt. Kamet, lost their way and happened across a beautiful valley full of flowers. So taken were they with the place that one of them, Frank Smythe, even wrote a book called "Valley of Flowers" and spread lore of the valley far and wide.
But long before that, somewhere in the 4th millennium BCE, legend has it that the Pandavas during their years in exile, noticed flowers floating down a river. They called the river "Pushpavati". This is the river which flows through the Valley of Flowers. One can only imagine the beauty of the source of those flowers, if merely the sight of a few blossoms floating down the river can be enough to name it.
590 documented varieties of flowers! Birds, insects and animals by the hundreds - attracted to the lush greenery and blossoms. The beautiful, imposing, protective cover of the mountains, the rich fragrance that hangs in the air, the misty clouds forever flirting with the wind and the valley, the sound of water flowing through countless little streams and rivulets.. how would any picture or video ever capture the sheer natural beauty of this place?!
But we can't seem to help trying. 😅
