This year, on the day of Bengali New Year/ Poila Boishakh, we celebrated by offering Pooja and Yagya in the presence of our family, friends and few guests, on the occasion of 7 years of Trumpet & Purr. These last 7 years have been of learning and have led to increased love for India and its culture and diversity. We want to thank our guests around the world for their love, support, and trust. It has inspired us to keep looking ahead in creating a boutique company for travelers on the lookout for unique experiences. To be aware, responsible and perceptive will always be our key to success. Thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to be a part of your journey.

Sandhi Puja, considered one of the most auspicious time during Durga Puja, marks the moment when the goddess reveals herself in a violent form (Chamunda) to kill the demons Chanda and Munda. One hundred and eight lamps are lit to destroy all evil and at the same time one hundred and eight lotuses offered. This victory over evil is celebrated with all grandeur, her blessings bestowed upon us. As we await the return of the goddess in the coming year, our faith stronger than our fear, and we are all equipped to combat our inner demons.

Shantiniketan, the beautifully diverse town of Bengal, is best explored on foot (or bicycles and e-rickshaws), making it naturally eco-friendly. Growing out of the great poet Rabindranath Tagore's inclusive vision of the world, the town is a unique melting pot of many artistic practices- including paintings, sculptures, and the soulful folk music of the Bauls (wandering ascetics); it is a tradition passed on as heritage and which continues to be enriched by present and future generations. Whether it is the customary celebration of the coming of spring, or young pupils taking lessons under huge trees or the wisdom in the Baul's verses, Shantiniketan is proof that love itself can be practiced as religion.

Next time you visit Calcutta, make sure to visit Shantiniketan, which is only 2 hours away from the city. You can drive up there or take a train.
