It is located about 60km east of Guwahati. It is hardly 2 hours drive through a beautiful semi hilly road passing by River Brahmaputa, and a small portion of the famous Magical village of Mayong. It is supposed to be the major wildlife stock, situated in a covering area of 38.8 Sq. The Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary is about 50 km from Guwahati. Though, the total notified area of the park is about 38

.80 square kilometre but the remaining area is jagged with hillocks. Pobitora was declared a reserve forest in 1971 and a wildlife sanctuary.
