Dima Hasao Adventure Association celebrates its 2nd Foundation Day.
Likewise last Year Dima Hasao Adventure Association has observed its Foundation Day with full enthusiasm. The programme started with a Marathon event in the morning where more than 85 participants participated in the marathon run.
Further the ceremonial program was done in Yoga Centre near Haflong Lake which was attended by Shri Mohet Hojai, Chairman of Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, Shri Donpainon Thaosen, Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council, Smt Probita Jahari, Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council and Shri NJ Lal Khelma, Chairman of Dima Hasao Tourism. The programme was also attended by the team of Royal Enfield Riders of Dima Hasao. The programme started with felicitation of guest followed by distribution of certificate to the marathon winner and participants of some of the major activities of Dima Hasao Adventure Association.
The team of Dima Hasao Adventure Association would like to thank all the attendees and Guest who were part of the Foundation Day programme.
Hope the Association flourish more and contribute to the betterment of society in future.

**Successful Conclusion of Hiking cm Trekking Programme to Ting-Tu-B**g Peak (6120 ft)**

The Assam Mountaineering and Adventure Institute, under the aegis of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam, successfully concluded its four-day Hiking cm Trekking Programme to Ting Tu B**g, the highest peak in Assam at 6120 ft. Held in the scenic Dima Hasao district, the event brought together 42 participants from various parts of Assam, fostering camaraderie and an appreciation for the state's natural beauty.

The welcoming ceremony featured Smt Probita Jahari, Executive Member of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council; Shri Jagir Khan, District Sports Officer, Dima Hasao; and Smt Arnamika Nunisa, Sub-Divisional Sports Officer (SDSO). The programme was graced by Shri Tarun Saikia, the first Assamese to conquer Mount Everest, who led the trekking and hiking activities.

Participants engaged in various activities designed to enhance their trekking skills and deepen their connection with nature. Under the expert guidance of Shri Tarun Saikia and experienced instructors, they navigated dense forests, crossed streams, and ascended hills while learning essential survival and mountaineering skills.

Local support from the Dima Hasao Adventure Association ensured the smooth ex*****on of the event. The programme also included sessions on environmental awareness, emphasizing sustainable trekking practices.

This successful event highlights the commitment of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare and the Assam Mountaineering and Adventure Institute to promoting adventure sports in Assam. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all involved for making this event a grand success.

*Exploring the Untamed Beauty: Trekking to the Peak near Leikeh (Laikeh) Village 🌄*
In the recently concluded vacation Dima Hasao Adventure Association embarked on an unforgettable journey that led to the heart of nature's grandeur. Nestled near Leike Village, the uncharted trail to this majestic peak promised adventure, mystery, and awe-inspiring vistas. It was heard from sources that the highest peak of Assam is not Mt Tintubung which is 1863 meters in height but rather some unnamed peak near Leikeh village in Dima Hasao which is about 1959 meters in height. The same was shown while googling. After enquiring with the local sources we came to know about the Leikeh Village near the Manipur Border. Since it was the only name similar to the one heard from various sources we decided to explore the place and we begin the journey to verify the facts.

🏍 The Journey Begins 1st Day
As the sun kissed the horizon, our group of intrepid explorers set out on the path less traveled. The anticipation in the air was palpable, and our journey resonated with the rhythm of the wild. We started our journey from Haflong and reach the destination i.e Leikeh Village in approx 5-6hours via Laisong.
🌚 Raw Night of Flashback with Headman
As we reached the starting point of Trek we met and interacted with Headman (Gaonbura) of the village Shri Otpao Gamlhou. Gamhlou arranged accomodations for us in the Community Hall of the village. The village consist of 10 household. The GB being the elderly residents impart their wisdom through tales of the villages history. Although the people in the villages follow Christianity there is a Hindu Temple in the village built by Indian armed forces way back in the 90s, and the villagers are still taking care of the temple. People from different parts of the India who have the knowledge of the temple visit the places once in every year for prayer. The anecdotes they share about the past were truly fascinating.We spent the night exploring and sharing stories by the campfire under the starry night sky. This untamed wilderness had brought us closer to our roots and to each other.
🌿*Nature's Symphony* 2nd Day
Our day started with visiting the temple before embarking on the trek. Each step revealed new wonders of nature. The forest canopy shielded us from the sun's intensity, creating a tranquil ambiance. The air was crisp, and the scent of earth and foliage filled our senses. The occasional rustle in the bushes hinted at the secretive creatures that called this place home.
🏞 Embracing the Wilderness
The camera shutters were in constant motion as we documented the breathtaking landscapes. Words alone couldn't do justice to the rugged beauty of the hills, the lush valleys, and the distant peaks that stretched out before us. The area shares border with neighbouring states and both Manipur and Nagaland can be viewed from the hill top.
⛰The Peak
After a three hour trek, we reached the peak, feeling a bit disappointed as it stood at just 1653 meters, lower than our previous expedition to Mt Timtubhung (1860 Metres). The final outcome didn't meet our expectations, yet it remains a memorable experience.
🙏 Gratitude for Nature's Bounty
As we descended, the trek left us with a sense of gratitude for the natural wonders that surround us. It was a reminder that such pristine places are worth preserving, and our responsibility to protect the environment.This adventure near Leikeh Village was an immersive journey into nature's untouched realms. It's not just a trek; it's a connection with the land, the people, and the indomitable spirit of exploration.

The stone curves in the area is the wonderful sight that have enthralled us during the last Diyung river rafting expedition done in 2021. Being in the serene location this place can be developed as the hotbed for Angling, Kayaking and other river activities. Once again our Association has reached another milestone, we have successfully completed our 2nd Edition of Diyung River Rafting Expedition 2023. The event was flagged off by Shri Debolal Gorlosa, Hon'ble Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council on 24-07-2023. The total distance covered was about 210 km , in 35 paddling hours. After the completion of Diyung river the team also did rafting from Panimur Waterfall to Panimur Adventure Camp in the Kopili river. The Expedition was done in collaboration with Nir-Mahal Adventure and Mountaineering Foundation (Tripura) and Dima Hasao Angling and Rafting Association. Congratulations to the participating team once again.

Dima Hasao Adventure Association has finally done it.We are proud to share that our first Expedition & Trekking to the Dhauladhar Range is successful. 11 members Team of the Association started off the journey on 21st June, 2023 from Guwahati after the flag off ceremony by Hon'ble Chief Executive Member Dima Hasao Autonomous Council on 18th June 2023 at Haflong. The team reached Delhi on 21st and Manali on 22nd June. After a day rest both the expedition and trekking team begin the journey to the beautiful Dhauladhar Range from Dhundi Via Bakarthach. The trekking team comprising of 7 members namely Pritam Thaosen, Pronesh Kemprai, Uddit Bathari, Binonjit Jidung, Lobomon Thaosen, Lalmintheng Hengna and Ditujit Kemprai completed the trek to the mesmerizing Beas Kund which is 12,272 ft above sea level and are back by 25th June, 2023.
Whereas we are indeed grateful to share that despite the gloomy weather the expedition team comprising of four members namely Biswajyoti Hojai, Rajashree Khersa, Biswajit Roy and Sarporaj Hojai have reached the summit of Mount. Hanuman Tibba Peak (19,626 ft above sea level) on 28-06-2023 at 10:10 Am (Although one member of the above name given have to stop at the Summit camp due to somehealth issues). The expedition team are back to Manali on 30th June, 2023 and are currently on the way to Guwahati and Haflong. With this Dima Hasao Adventure Association feel proud to share that it is the first organization to send a team to expedition at Dhauladhar Range from Dima Hasao and also the first to come out successful. Big Kudos to the expedition team for achieving the feat to one of the most technical peak of Himachal Pradesh. We would like to thank all the well wishers and sponsors without which the expedition would not have been successful.Special thanks to the Sherpas their strength and endurance are worth mentionable, and also the lovely friends & people of Manali.

We feel very proud to share that the first ever expedition team from Dima Hasao to Mt. Hanuman Tibba, Himachal Pradesh, one of the toughest peak has been successful Summit. The news was just received from the expedition team who are still on the way back from the peak. Details will be shared soon.

Overcoming excessive rain Dima Hasao Adventure Association took part in the cleanliness drive in and around Haflong Lake Area initiated by Shri Debolal Gorlosa, Hon'ble Chief Executive Member, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council. Denizens of Dima Hasao need to be more careful in using plastics and bottle as the same is found in huge quantities during the drive. Clean and green Dima Hasao is a must for attracting tourism and saving environment. Huge quantities of bottles and plastics were found littering which came from the nearby drains of Haflong Lake. We are indeed proud to be part of the noble deed by Hon'ble CEM along with Hon'ble Chairperson, EMs, PS (N), Council employees and other NGOs.

Also a flag off ceremony was done by Hon'ble CEM for Mt Hanuman Tibba Expedition and Trekking to Beas Kund in Himachal Pradesh before the beginning of cleanliness drive. The ceremony was attended by Hon'ble CEM, DHAC along with Chairperson, EMs and PS (N), DHAC.

This Environment Day lets question ourselves. Besides planting trees on particular day what are our contribution in the conservation of environment? Water crisis have reached to an alarming point, rivers are drying up and even the villagers in some area have to purchase water. We know it is the resultant effort of multiple factors and not one. Climate Change has become real even in the district like Dima Hasao covered mostly with jungles, we have had full load of water along with worst landslide last year and now we are fully dry. The agricultural products and forest products will hit hard which will affect most of the villagers, the seed sown in paddy field won't yield expecting results. Are we genuinely doing something for all this to stop? Everyone reading this post are literate enough to seek the answer. What can be done according to you all?
