Are you bored with crowd of city Darjeeling? You want to spend some quality time with your friends/family in a offbeat location avoiding crowd? Then SPAD Travel has come up with a beautiful place for you to visit called Mungpoo.

Mungpoo is disarmingly quiet. At first glance, the town is a patchwork of undulating tea estates and kaleidoscopic orchid and cinchona plantations.The place has a quiet charm of its own which attracted Nobel Laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore, who came and lived here on many occasions. The house in which he lived now serves as a museum, where some of his personal effects are preserved.
The road curving down to Mungpoo from Darjeeling is fringed with tea gardens tumbling down mountains, peppered every now and then with forests bursting at the seams with intensely hued orchids.Head to Mungpoo for a glimpse into the minimalistic way of life lived through the terrains of northern Bengal.
There are three major roads that meet at Mungpoo. The North Westbound road goes towards Peshok road, an eastbound downhill road goes towards Teesta and National Highway 10 there and a southbound road reaches jogighat and then towards Selphu Sittong area.

This is a place to enjoy nature and local culture at its best. You may spend days walking in the woods or simply roaming in hilly villages blissfully, without jostling with other tourists. The whole area is quite attractive, here are the few places you may visit while at Mungpoo:

Rabindranath Tagore Memorial,Dichen Sherpa Choyling Monastery, Surel Bungalow, Siksin village, Jogighat, Shelphu, Sittong, and Latpanchar

Jhandi is nearest and quickly reachable hilltop from plain land of Bengal and Jhandi is best the alternative for Darjeeling lovers. Blessed with serene ambience Jhandi is a picturesque valley famous for its panoramic view of the Mahananda River valley and mighty Mt. Kanchenjunga. This is home of lots of Himalayan plants and rare animals. Jhandi is a well known tourist spot in the Gorubathan Block offering glorious sun rise and sun set views, wide angle view of Mount Kanchenjunga and the Nathula Range as well as the Dooars. It is about 16 km from Gorubathan. Throughout the year it is cold and misty here. The rich wildlife here also makes it one of the most picturesque destinations for tourists.
Jhandi (ঝান্ডি) is a new and most beautiful, romantic tourist destination in Dooars region situated on 6,200 ft. above sea level and distance from Siliguri is around 87 km, 9km from the Lava on the way to Gorubathan. The Sunrise and Sunset Point is definitely one of the star attractions of Jhandi. From here, exceptional views of both the rising as well as the setting sun could be observed along with the Mt. Kanchenjunga range. This is further complemented by the calmness of the environment, except for the soft chirping and whistling of the birds in the surrounding forest.

Surrounded by a dense evergreen forest of Sal and Pine tree, Jhandi is famous for housing some of the most exquisite flora and fauna in Himalayan Range making it a must visit tourist destination of North Bengal for nature lovers.
You can visit Jhandi any time of the year. The monsoon brings new leaves to the Sal trees in the forests and gives it a heavenly hue.
