Yana is a small village at a distance of 50 km from Gokarna and is known for its numerous unusual rock formations. There are several black crystalline rock formations in this vicinity. While most of these rock formations are very small, there are two huge monolithic rocks the stand out prominently due to their massive size. Happy Holi Folks!! 😁

Below are some quick bites on a different style of Holi celebration in India

Rang Panchami 📍Maharashtra
The celebrations involve lighting a firewood pyre on the night before the actual celebrations. On the following morning of Rang Panchami day, people celebrate Holi with wet and dry colours and water.

Royal Holi 📍Rajasthan
There is a fancy procession which includes several decorated horses and the royal band, followed by an effigy of Holika is set on fire.

Hola Mohalla 📍Punjab
Holla Mohalla is celebrated a day after Holi and is a celebration commemorating the bravery of Sikh Warriors. Festivities include an extensive display of traditional martial arts which is later followed by music and dancing.

Lathmar Holi 📍Uttar Pradesh
Women armed with lathis, canes meant to hit the men and boys playfully during the festivities. The men, in turn, come prepared with a dhal (shield) to protect themselves.

Khadi Holi 📍Uttarakhand
Festivities here include revellers donning traditional attire and singing & dancing to folk tunes going around the city. Locals greet each other by smearing color on each other’s faces and dancing and singing all along.

Yaosang 📍Manipur
The festivities here blend indigenous North Eastern and Hindi traditions. The highlight of Holi here is the Thabal Chongba, a traditional Manipuri folk dance that is performed during the celebrations.

Basant Utsav 📍West Bengal
Apart from the colors, there are also recitals of Rabindranath Tagore’s poetry and traditional song & dance programs. The day after Holi is celebrated as Dol Jatra, where a grand procession of Lord Krishna is taken through the streets of Bengal.

Dola 📍Odisha
Holi in Odisha celebrates Lord Jagannath, also known as Dolagovinda. There are processions of Lord Jagannath seen throughout the many different cities and towns.

Ukuli aka Manjal Kuli 📍Kerala
Kerala has its own unique version of Holi in the form of Manjal Kuli aka Ukuli. The Kudumbi and Konkani communities of Kerala are known to celebrate in this traditional manner where the major colour used is turmeric or Manjal Kuli.

During the winter the waters of this lake basin are only a couple of meters deep and the surrounding area is used as a park. When Spring arrives and the temperatures start to rise, glaciers from the surrounding area begin to melt and the water then penetrates into the ground and flows into the basin below, thus creating the Green Lake, a real “seasonal” lake.
