All I can say 'For 15 years maine mindlessly hal ( plough) nahin chalaya hai...' 😉

Good crop-bad crop, ripe or rotten fruit is another story!

Still working on it, happily un-tired...
Thanks to Daadi who subtly pointed out once that unless you are physically plowing the field in the sun, you have no reason to be tired moreso if you love what you do.

I hope you all enjoyed flipping through The Tell of Two Cities. Look forward to your feedback - good, bad & beyond, all is welcome!

"For every floor you give me, I'll give you four..."
sang Mumbai to Delhi

For sky is the limit. No?

The best part of working or learning about cities is to make connections across the board. And have fun at it. It doesn't have to be a drag. Hum the first line in the first tune you can think of. I thought of Be my Baby, from Dirty Dancing ( change kiss to floor and three to four...you got it I am sure!)

More on the two cities and the songs they make you sing & dance to COMING SOON.Keep watching this space! It's a limited edition...;:))

There are patterns everywhere - in books, behaviour, art, architecture, cities...you just have to pay attention.

Seen here, a building in Bandra, Mumbai and the shading devices installed on the roof of India Habitat Centre, Delhi. One pattern grows tall, the other spreads out much like the cities they are in. They tell a tale...

COMING SOON more patterns on pages by Beyond. Watch this place for more...

Mumbai & Delhi

Like whimsical, watchful, waiting old men who have been around.

Like Gandalf & Dumbeldore. One with a long(er) legacy and the other, a lasting impact. Resources on point, they challenge and duel to propel the story forward. You really can't pick? Or can you?

Either ways, it tells a tale...

Under a fog noon.

'...Do you hear the call to prayer?
It leaves me unwinding scrolls of legend
till I reach the first brick they brought here.
How the prayers rose, brick by brick?

Shahjahan knew the depth of stones,
how they turn smooth rubbed on a heart...'

- Agha Shahid Ali, from At Jama Masjid poem.

For anyone travelling to Mumbai!

Present day Mumbai is so intent on reflecting global narratives that it becomes difficult to place shared spaces like dock and mills in it. In fact, the city has little to say about them.
So, there is a need to seek out new forms by which to narrate the histories or simply invite urban public into them

Walks charting a course through art on view at Sassoon Dock by St+Art’s Mumbai Urban Art Festival is one such way. It is on until Feb 23, 2022, so do not miss it!

Here is a'beyond bit' on Sassoon Dock. So do have read to know more and go join on one of the walks. A must do!

The past is everywhere and nowhere. According to Aldo Rossi ‘… a city remembers through its built forms so preservation of old buildings is analogous with the preservation of memories. ’ Present day Mumbai is so intent on reflecting global narratives that it becomes difficult to place shared s...

'There are things known and things unknown and in between are the doors...'

- Jim Morrison

Here is a bit on doors, that are not mere points of transition or transformation but also cultural distinction, using the doors of Kucha Pati Ram, Old Delhi, as reference.

Our walk, Of Doors & Floors, is a two-city walk, designed to take in doors of Delhi and floors of Mumbai. It tells a tale, not only of a time in housing but the world that once was.
