Harihar fort / Harshagad is a fort located 48 km from Igatpuri, Nashik district, of Maharashtra. It is an important fort in Nashik district and was constructed to look upon the trade route through Gonda Ghat. It receives many visitors because of its peculiar rock-cut steps.
A wide, safe trekking path starts from the hillock north of the Nirgudpada. It passes through the scrub forest till it reaches an open ridge which is connected to the fort. It takes about an hour to reach the scarp of the hill on which the fort is situated. The ascent through the 60 m rock-cut steps is wonderful. It is like a stone ladder placed at 60 degrees along the scarp. The steps are worn out at many places yet the holes on either side of the steps are conveniently cut for holding onto. After reaching the main entrance, the paths take a left traverse and again helical rock-cut steps are to be climbed, which are steeper than the earlier. the steps finally end with a narrow entrance. At many places, the steps are very narrow that, only a single person can climb at a time.

You guys have no idea how humble this trailer launch makes me feel. When I was a kid, we didn’t have a TV. We used to sneak around round to our neighbour’s house and watch their TV through their window. If they caught us watching we would get told off. So, coming from that to a place where I am now, it amazes me. Devprayag, Uttarakhand
Devprayag is one of the confluences of the widely known Panch Prayag where the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers unite. This sacred place attracts tourist from all over the world because of its scenic beauty as well as religious significance. Devprayag is a small town in Tehri Garhwal district belonging to the newly formed state of Uttarakhand in India. It has gained much popularity in recent times for its spiritual and religious significance coming into prominence. With all the coverage about its rich history and colour past, Devprayag has grown from a pilgrimage halt in a remote village to a municipality in recent times.
Devprayag lies at the confluence of river Alaknanda where it meets Bhagirathi and attains the form of the holy Ganges or Ganga thereon. Thus it is also colloquially referred to as the birthplace of the Ganges and is the starting point of the Panch Prayag Yatra. In Sanskrit, “Devaprayāga" translates to The Divine Confluence. The presiding deity here is Tondeshwar Mahadev and it is Lord Shiva who is worshiped in the form of his signature form, the Lingam. Ratangad Trek starts from Samrad base village, Aurangabad where you will be picked up from and will be continued to the base camp where you will reach till 5 In the morning. Breakfast will be served at the base village where there will be an introduction round before starting the trek. The trek to Ratangad fort will start early in the morning at 7:30 AM. This 3-hour trek will take you to the top till 10:30 AM where you will be exploring the fort as well as taking the rest. Descend will start till 1:30 Pm and you will be provided lunch after you reach the base village.

Diskit Monastery
Diskit is the administrative centre of Nubra valley and is popular for the ancient monasteries it holds. Belonging to the 14th century, this monastery is considered to be the largest and oldest monastery in Nubra Valley. Also known as Diskit Gompa, the monastery's most prominent attraction is the huge Maitreya Buddha statue atop it, which was inaugurated by HH Dalai Lama. From the base of the statue, one can get a gorgeous panoramic view of the Nubra valley. The monastery was founded by Changzen Tserab Zangpo in the 14th century and is situated on a hill above the plains of Shayok river. One should also visit the monastery for its vast collection of murals and display of frescoes.

Satvahan was the first dynasty in Maharashtra. Satavahana king Gautamiputra Satkarni destroyed the Sakas and established his dominance over the Junnar area. These dynasties built many trade passes and forts over the shoulders of the mountains in Sahyadris. Around 250 BC, the Satvahana kings built the Naneghat connecting Konkan and the rest of the area by breaking through the hills near Junnar.
All entry point on the forts built by Shivaji Maharaj have a ‘Kalas’ and Lord Ganesh carved on it. Fort Jivdhan is in very close proximity of Naneghat. It was used to overlook the trade pass. Naneghat had a toll collection booth where toll was collected from commercial traders. It was considered to be an important pass as it was a gateway joining the mainlands and the seas. It was heavily guarded at all times.
The last emperor of Adilshahi of Ahmednagar was Murtija Nizam. He was imprisoned by the Mughals at Jivdhan fort. In 1635 the father of Shahaji Maharaj, the father of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj released him from the prison and gave him the throne of Ahmednagar.
Jivdhan to Naneghat has an open plateau of about two to three kilometres, which gives any clear indication of enemy approach. Jivdhan fort was captured by the British in 1818, the steps were demolished and the west gate was blocked. You can still see traces of landmines as you climb the stairs even today. Thefort was captured by Col. Prother of the East India company and later destroyed.

Harishchandragad trek is one of the most challenging treks in the western ghats of Maharashtra. A popular trek which offers a variety of adventures to all kinds of trekkers.
It is a hill fort in the Ahmednagar district situated in the Malshej Ghat. It climbs up to an altitude of 4,670 ft.
Harishchandragad is an ancient fort. Its origin is said to have been in the 6th century during the rule of the Kalchuri dynasty. But the caves which you see on the top are probably carved out in the 11th century.
The various constructions on the fort and those in the surrounding region indicate the existence of diverse cultures. Saptatheertha Pushkarni, Kedareshwar cave, Harishchandra temple and other caves are the examples for that.
