Indian marriages are a beautiful amalgamation of traditions, rituals and customs, each with it's unique significance. Here's an overview of the key rituals that make an Indian wedding a culturally rich and memorable affair.

*Mehendi Ceremony: The bride's hands and feet are adorned with intricate henna designs, symbolizing love and fertility.

*Sangeet: A musical evening where families and friends come together to celebrate through dance and music.

*Haldi Ceremony: Both the bride and groom are smeared with turmeric paste by their respective family members. Turmeric is believed to bring a radiant glow and ward off evil spirits.

*Baraat: The groom, accompanied by his family and friends, arrives at the wedding venue in a grand procession. He is often seated on a decorated horse or elephant, and the atmosphere is festive with music and dance.

*Varmala or Jaimala: The exchange of floral garlands between the bride and groom symbolizes their acceptance of each other and their willingness to marry.

*Kanyadaan: The bride's father gives away his daughter to the groom, symbolizing the entrustment of his daughter's well-being to her husband.

*Saptapadi or Seven Vows: The most sacred ritual where the bride and groom take seven rounds around the sacred fire, each round representing a vow they make to each other. These vows encompass aspects of their life journey together.

*Mangalsutra and Sindoor: The groom ties a sacred thread (mangalsutra) around the bride's neck, signifying their marital bond. The groom also applies sindoor (vermilion) on the bride's hair parting, symbolizing her married status.

*Reception: A grand post-wedding celebration where the couple is officially introduced to society. It includes dinner, dance, and socializing with family and friends.

Let us guide you on how to reach to this mesmerizing location!

By Air: The easiest and best way to travel to Ladakh is to take a flight. Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is well connected with many international airports in India like Delhi. It also receives flights from Srinagar, Jammu, Chandigarh, and other common destinations in India.

By Road: There are two road routes to Leh Ladakh- one through Manali(494 km) and the second one through Srinagar (434 km). You can hire a cab or a jeep or board a JKSRTC bus, both deluxe and ordinary, run from Kargil and between Leh and Srinagar on regular and frequent intervals.

By Road: Alternatively, you can embark on a bike trip to Leh from Srinagar, Manali, Delhi, or Chandigarh depending upon the time you have. You can only travel to Ladakh by road between May to September as during the winter months the highways are shut due to heavy snowfalls.

By Train: There is no direct train availability to reach Ladakh. The nearest railway station is Jammu Jammu Tawi (700 km from Ladakh) which is well connected with Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. You can hire a cab or board a JKSRTC bus to reach Ladakh from Jammu.
