PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy ) is professional doctoral degree started in 2008 by Ministry of health Under PCI pharmacy act 1948 act, passed PharmD gazette 2008 guidelines framed on the lines of PharmD course USA (ACPE approved ). PharmD is minimum qualification to practice as pharmacist in clinical and community settings in most western countries. which is as per recommendations of World Health Org
anisation about pharmacist role took place in New Delhi 1988. Most countries has taken up this course as their curriculum after the fruitful results seen in USA & other western countries. PharmD course in India structured with 5years of educational period and 1 year of clinical internship in 300 bedded hospital in different departments of medicine like general medicine, psychiatry, orthopedics, dermatology, gynecology and pediatrics. During internship we look after prescription, Dose calculations, Drug interactions, Adverse drug reactions If any. Regarding Job opportunities
We are best fit for clinical pharmacist, Pharmacovigilence , clinical Research profiles. Currently we are facing problems in Hospitals as government hospitals not equipped with clinical pharmacist cadre. But JCI , NABH accredited Hospitals recruit us for clinical pharmacist positions to avail medical tourism. I guess most of the recruiters still not aware of PharmD course and their Job prospectus

Executive body meeting with Dr. B. suresh PCI president and pharmD associations of India. Dr.Chandrashekar PharmD, Dr.Koushik Dubbaka, Dr.Sai Kumar Katam, Dr.lakshmikanth, Dr.Ramprasad, Dr.Manjeeth singh, Mr.Vinay Kumar Bharati & students from all states were present in the meeting. We have appealed PCI with 1. Inclusion of clinical pharmacist job specifications in pharmacy practice regulations 2015 & PCI president assured clinical pharmacist & pharmacovigilance officer will be in regulations by amendments 2. We ask PCI to lobby with health ministry to utilise pharmD Doctors services in all National & State Health Programs on lines of National Health policy 2017-as mid level healthcare provider. 3. We ask PCI to stop giving permissions to colleges which do not have basic amenities to conduct the course. We also asked to recall permissions of colleges which do not have 300 bedded hospital tie-up. We have given RTI information which are not having 300bedded hospital tie-up. PCI president suresh sir assured to pursue into it. 4. We asked for the minutes of the CEC meeting conducted today . He has assured this information will be communicated through to all the persons attended today. He assured of review meeting after 6months to pursue the status of work. #Justice4PharmD #Clinicalpharmacist4PharmD will be coming with unity & strengthening ourselves let's strive for cadre. #Rest Not Till the goal is Reached
